Welcome Honoria Ravena

1 Where do you dream of traveling to and why?
I want to travel too just about everywhere because I just love to travel period. I would love to go to the Middle East to see history related stuff. I’m a big ancient history junkie so I love the Fertile Crescent region and Egypt. BUT I’m pretty sure my family would protest if I decided to travel there because things really aren’t getting any safer. I’d love to go the Greece for history reasons too. I’ve ALWAYS wanted to go to England, but for some reason Scotland has been more the goal lately. Been reading too many great Scottish heroes I guess.

2 Does travel play in the writing of your books?
*sigh* No, but if I had my way all I’d do is travel, write and dance. And if I did travel, some exotic locales would most definitely inspire some books.

3 Tell us about your current release.
Regan is the best vampire hunter money can buy. But when she's paid to kill one of the most powerful vampires in existence, she doesn't realize she's in way over her head. Things go terribly wrong, and there is no escape...

Zarek is so powerful, he scares other vampires. One little hunter should be no challenge. However, Regan is different, and as soon as he sees her, he will do anything to keep her. But she's a stubborn woman who refuses to let someone else control her.

When a powerful enemy comes to town, she's forced to trust Zarek with her life. Who is the larger threat? The man out to destroy humankind? Or the vampire determined to own her heart?

4 Has someone helped or mentored you in your writing career?
My editor Clarissa Yip has actually helped me improve my writing a great deal. Her edits are challenging, but she gets my sense of humor, and not everyone does.

5 Who is your favorite author?
That kind of changes by the month. Right now I’m devouring historical romances, and Teresa Medeiros is currently a favorite. And Johanna Lindsey is an all-time favorite. For paranormal I love Kresley Cole, J.R. Ward, and Laurell K. Hamilton.

6 When in the day/night do you write? How long per day?
I like to write in the afternoons. I’ve tried writing in the mornings and it just doesn’t work I’m not a morning person.

7 Do you have critique partners or beta readers?
I have some people who critique my books, but no one who is really permanent. It’s basically whichever writing buddy I ask to rip my manuscript apart. But I do always get a few opinions, because it’s very important to. When I was Acquisitions Manager at Breathless Press about half the books I threw out probably would have been acceptable if the author had a good critique partner go over it.

8 What are your favorite TV shows?
I have a lot, so I’ll just go with this season. The Vampire Diaries. I LOVE that show. Once Upon a Time. I just started watching Alcatraz, and I can’t wait to figure out what is going on. TerraNova was good. I want to keep watching The Secret Circle but Hulu Plus only has like the first five episodes, and then it skips to the latest, so I can’t watch episodes 6-10, which bugs me, because I’d have no clue what’s going on.

9 What songs are most played on your Ipod?
Hmm… This is going to be a weird mixture, and some things I don’t want to admit to. Anything off 50 Cent’s The Massacre. 99 Problems by Jay-Z (that’s the one I feel bad about admitting, because it’s rather offensive to women.) Anything by Rise Against. Belly dance drum solos just in general, almost all of them are good. Misery Business by Paramore. Crazy Girls by Paul Markham

10 What do you do to unwind and relax?
I find that exercise is the best way to relax. I love to belly dance and do yoga or pilates. If I’m not in the mood to exercise then I tend to play a mindless Facebook game. I have to force myself to give those up every once in a while, because in times of great stress I’ll start playing like three of them, and suddenly that’s all I’m doing with my free time. Right now I’m playing Hidden Chronicles. Also, watching TV tends to be a way I unwind to. I just started paying for Hulu Plus. A mistake if there ever was one, because now I have to keep up with my shows. And there are a lot of good ones this season.
