The Universe Has a Sense of Humor!

Thursday the hubby and I left for NY to visit my family. We didn’t make a big deal out of Valentine’s Day. We exchanged cards and some chocolates. Just getting away for the weekend was enough for me.
On Friday we met friends for dinner. As we were sitting there my middle daughter walks up to the table to say hello. She was at the restaurant with her father…my ex-husband. Now mind you I don’t like my ex in any way, shape, or form. L walks away and my friends think she’s my oldest. When we tell them it’s L they’re floored. They can’t believe how much she’s grown in four years since they were last out in RI to visit. L is taller than my friends. LOL
Anyway, about ten minutes later who gets seated next to us? Yup my ex, our daughter and his other daughter. After a few minutes I forgot he was there and enjoyed our friends. We laughed until my stomach hurt that night. Overall, it was awesome.
I didn’t let my ex ruin my night.
We came home Saturday night. My oldest daughter called to tell me her boyfriend had just proposed. She texted me a pic of the ring. Gorgeous! I’m so happy for them. Now I have to bust my ass to sell books so I can pay for this wedding.
Oh and I subbed my themed book to my LI editor on deadline.
A great weekend…and I’m off today!
Happy Monday.

When it Rains...

So I’m pretty much over the pneumonia. I’m feeling stronger. Early last week I woke in terrible pain in my left wrist. Now I’m not one to go to a doctor unless I can’t stand it any longer. My pain tolerance is pretty high, so when I rushed off to the walk in my hubby knew I was hurting.
Results – severe tendonitis in my left wrist. Last week I spent in a sling, icing the wrist and taking Tylenol…rinse and repeat. Against the doctor’s orders I continued to write. Only the book. The reason I continued is because of a deadline.
I skipped blogged and emailing because frankly I couldn’t handle the pain. The only thing that gave me some relief was Tylenol with codeine. Downside? It made me sleep too much. I started to feel better, but today it hurts again. I guess I did too much yesterday.
While I mend, my blogging might not be every day, but I’ll do it when I can.
The positive is I’m so close to the end on this wip…sometime this week. :o)

This and That...

There seems to be a lot of talk about Facebook this morning. I guess you can’t advertise contests and if I read the rules correctly you can’t do much. So I have to ask…as an author who wants to promote myself and run contests why would I choose Facebook? I’ll be honest I’d been considering it for about a month now. Everyone told me it’s the thing to do. In fact many insisted I must have a Facebook page if I plan to increase my sales.
Well I’m still on the fence and I’ll wait until all this mess clears up before I make a decision – currently I’m leaning towards not having one.
Yesterday after writing double my normal writing goal I decided to check out the series Camelot. We’ve been recording it, but haven’t sat down to watch. With the house unusually quiet I took advantage and watched the first three episodes. I really enjoyed them. I’m going to catch up on a few more today while it’s quiet again. The DH wasn’t happy because I watched them without him and now he’ll have to catch up on his own. Hey I need something to unwind after a few stressful days at work.
I’m off to write another 1k…one down one to go. That deadline is going to hit me like a brick wall I’m afraid. I have about 7k to finish the story…deadline? Three days. I’ll keep you posted.
Happy Thursday!

Catching up from the weekend

We had a busy weekend. Family in town, softball tryouts and new furniture arrived for the sunroom because we gave our daughter the old stuff when she moved out.

Today I have to do the dreaded grocery shopping after seeing my family off.

I managed some writing over the weekend. More than I hoped. I woke bright and early with every intention of writing after I finished my daily ritual I fell back to sleep. No writing for me. LOL

I need to get moving on some of these deadlines.

Happy Monday!

Light at the end of the tunnel

I managed to do the revisions for Cabin Fever. Cut 8k from the story. It was painful, but I'm going to use it in another story. The edits for Chicken Soup were simple. Faxed that over. Now that's off my plate. I'm going to read Cabin Fever one last time before sending it to my editor.
Managed to get some words written on His Submissive, my short for Noble Romance. Gave myself a deadline of next Friday to have it to that editor.
Once those are done, it's back to Research Required, which is half done. I have a few ideas written in my handy dandy notebook.

One more day 'til Friday! YAY!

Chaos

Usually when the DH is out of town I get into a writing frenzy. No such luck this time. We are having a deck built on our pool and the guys were at the door all day long for ice cold water. Okay, it was the least I could do, it was ninety degrees outside.

That wasn't the end of it. There were deliveries and surprise guests. Umm, I do have a day job. Not that I feel like performing that these days.

A year ago our company felt it would be a smart move to merge with another company to become a powerhouse in the IT industry. Well that company has been making pay cuts to our staff, but not their own. Morale is at an all time low. I've lost over 10% of my base salary in the last six months. With over 10 years experience I've been reduced to an entry level position. My co-worker has 22 years and he is now entry level too. How are these people determining what level we're at? They don't even do what our company does!

Pay cuts will continue until morale improves!

Oh well...I don't have the energy to look for a new job in this rotten economy so I'll stick it out and hope something good comes from all this.

On a lighter note, it's almost Friday! YAY!

Writing THE END

There’s been a lot of talk on different blogs lately about ending your story. Right now my heroine has her ass up in the air waiting for her husband to spank her. It’s the second to last scene. I know exactly where how this story is going to end. So why can’t I seat down and finish it? Some say that I might not want to let go of the characters. Not in this case. You see I’m editing this story after it sat for two months. While editing I decided it needed more story. So, 7k more words and I’m just about done.
Others might argue I don’t have the next project mapped out. Not so. I’m under deadline to finish a short story 7-10k words by the 18th. I currently have 1.5k. I know this story beginning to end. Still when I sit down and open the document I putter with a few hundred words.
I want to finish these two projects before I start my vacation on the 26th. Of course one HAS to be finished. I’ve been waiting six long months for this vacation. I’ve written nine novellas and one full length novel during these six months. I think I deserve this vacation. We’re not going anywhere. Well, probably the ocean, weather permitting. It’s only a forty minute drive. I love watching the waves. I always come back recharged and full of new ideas. It’s my inspiration. I’ve considered moving south where the weather is warm most of the year. DH and kids still fight me on this.
So instead of working on one of the projects, I’m updating my blog! LOL - Oh well. I guess it’s time to go back and do some writing. Hope everyone out there is having an easier time writing that final scene.
