Crazy Weekend

I need eye candy to get me motivated!

I feel like I haven't done anything writing related in a long time. I had to work the day job on Saturday, after I was done the DH took me to dinner and a movie. Saw The Time Traveler's Wife. I hadn't read the book, but enjoyed the movie. Family came back from the Cape. Went to dinner with them on Sunday. They just left to go home to NY!

I have Heat Wave edits waiting in my in box. Paperwork and Cover Art requests need to be filled out for another book. And I've yet to finish self-edits on another story.

School starts in two days. L, is not a happy camper. She went back to NY for a short, which has put a damper on things. We still need to get school supplies and a back pack. And mom can not even think about buying anything without her. So I'll likely be making the three hour journey to meet her father so she can come home today.





Off to try and accomplish some of this stuff! Happy Monday.

Titles

I've been pleased thus far with not having to change any of my titles. So when my editor explained that Cabin Fever had to be changed it threw me for a loop. I totally understand her reasons, but my mind went blank. That's what happens when I feel pressured. lol I racked my brain for anything I could pull from the story - nothing. The only thing from the story I could possible use was Mustang Love. Don't think she liked it that much and she shouldn't. Still waiting to hear if we can use the new title. I'm also assuming that since I'm working so hard on a title for a story that hasn't been contracted, one must be coming with the title change. Let's just say if I'm doing this for nothing, I won't be a happy camper! :o)

I wrote this morning. Only two pages, but it was more than I had yesterday. Today is a busy day. L has a dental and doctors appointment back-to-back. Originally they were a few hours apart, but she got an invite for a fun day of swimming, go-carts and a baseball game to end the day. Being a good mom I found a way to rearrange the dentist appt.

I have my own agenda for that too. It gives me an hour of waiting while she has a physical and cleaning, oh and lets not forget the shots. Waiting means time for editing. Woo Hoo.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Finished my local writer's chapter newsletter for this month. Now to just staple and mail out these suckers! LOL Hopefully I can get back to editing His Submissive. I really want to submit it by last Friday, but that never happened. The goal is this Friday.

I sent my editor 13 title suggestions. She only liked one. Wait, she loved it! :) She's making sure it's not a duplicate before approving it, so until then....it's still Cabin Fever.

Today I need to help my oldest go open a checking account. After six long months he's finally found a job! YAY They require direct deposit, which is fine with me. N, has never wanted a checking account. I think at 21 it's about time. So, we'll go over and do that today.

My youngest has open house at her new school tonight. She'll get her schedule, locker and such. Welcome to the world of junior high. You know I love summer. Don't care for the other seasons too much, but I'm really looking forward to school starting again and getting my life back in order - whatever that is!

Trying to get thru the day

Went to the doctor's today. Was poked, prodded and just tortured. Currently all the tests are inconclusive. I'll have to return in two weeks for more testing. My fate is still undetermined. Frustrating to say the least when a doctor can't give you all the answers you need. So we wait. Did I tell you I'm not a patient person?



On the writing front, one of my editors will not move forward with offering me a contract until I change the title. It seems Cabin Fever has been used in the past. So I've given her one list which she didn't like. I'm in the midst of creating a second list, hoping she likes one of them.

Entertaining the Family

My mom and aunt came in from NY for the night yesterday. They're in route to Cape Cod for a week long vacation. Our house was total chaos yesterday. Between them, the kids and grand kid I couldn't hear myself think. Well, they're off and hopefully the weather will be perfect for them. Next Sunday they'll be back on their way home. My youngest came home from being with her father for most of the summer. School starts next Wednesday -junior high. L is not a morning person. School starts at 7:55am. This should be interesting.

Me, I woke up with an ear ache, pain in my neck and jaw. Not sure if I was clenching my teeth in my sleep or if something is going on. I'll wait until tomorrow before calling the doctor. On another note tomorrow we find out if our lives are going to change and if so how much. I could be worrying for nothing. I could be just fine. But either way I'll know tomorrow.

Needless to say, no writing was accomplished for me this weekend or today. There's always tomorrow. Right?

Ghost Hunters and Life Changes

I was so excited about the review from Manic Reader's yesterday I forgot to mention the return of Ghost Hunters last night. They came back with a bang. I like GHI, but Jason and Grant are my all time favorites. Last nights episode Jason was scratched. He had five marks on his legs. Not that I want to see them hurt, but this is the stuff I WANT to see. That's what they're there to do isn't it? SHOW us that ghosts and other paranormal entities exist? They didn't let me down. I hope the rest of the season only gets better.

On the writing front I've got the editing for His Submissive just about complete to submit to Noble Romance. My next submission Research Required is a few scenes away from being done too. Not sure who I'll submit this one to. I've had some thoughts. I'm really considering Loose, Id or Resplendence Publishing. I'll keep you posted. Or I might keep it in house with one of my current publishers. It's a lot to think about.

Off to work on my local chapters newsletter. I volunteered to be the editor for the next two years. When I volunteered I hadn't expected some of the life changes I've been facing. (That's a post for another day!) Oh well, can't turn my back on it now, but this might turn into a one year run instead of two. I'll know more in the weeks to come HOW much my life will be changing! lol

Ouch. The suspense was killing me. I could feel the connection between Navarre and Bryan so I was really worried about what Navarre was going to find in the hotel room. Lip Service is a total page turner and I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen.

Wowzers. Spank Me Twice is mouthwateringly delicious down to the last page. What an incredible array of writers in this book. Jude Mason starts it off with a delicious tale of a naughty husband who gets his punishment and it goes out with a bang with a male love story by Keta Diablo. Spank Me Twice is like an Oreo cookie. Yummy crunchy cookie on the outside with delectable cream-filling in the middle. All the stories are fast paced and will have you needing a fan on high next to you.

It's gonna be a scorcher

I wanted to post yesterday, but the day job would not allow any time for it! The temps are reaching ninety again today. I know most hate this weather, but I absolutely love it! Give me hot temps and a float in the pool and I'm one happy camper. I'm not a cold weather person, yet I continue to live in the northeast. Maybe some day we'll move south.

I think I've damaged my granddaughter from sugar for the rest of her life - and she's only 3 1/2 months. Sunday my daughter and the baby came over for a visit. Well the daughter just needed a shower without the baby in the room. Anyway, before she jumped in she said, T might get hungry. Just yell if she gets cranky.

Okay, I can handle this. I've raised three of my own children. T got cranky almost immediately. I called to B and asked how much water/formula to mix. She proceeds to tell me she needs her fruit. Heat it for ten seconds and then mix in two spoons of cereal. The cereal is in her diaper bag.

Simple enough. I grab a container with what I thought was cereal. Heat up the peaches and mixed in the finely grain cereal. Well, T refused to eat her peaches. She kept spitting it back out and screaming her head off.

B got out of the shower and I firmly told her "T hates peaches and needs a bottle." So while I'm giving her a bottle, B's checking out the peaches. "They're not very thick," she states.

"Yes," I say, "what kind of cereal are you feeding her?"
"One grain."
"It's awful fine," I say.
She's stirring and decides to taste it. "Ummm, mom which container did you use to mix into her peaches?"
"The one in the bag."
She reaches in the diaper bag and asks, "This one?"
"Ummm, no. The one I used is on the kitchen counter."
B rushes to the kitchen and comes back. "That's the sugar!"
Now we're both laughing our asses off. My stomach hurt!

So T had more sugar than she wanted! That's when B reminded me how I threatened to sugar her up and send her home.

I hadn't intended to start this young. I meant around five or six! LOL

Note to self: make sure T's containers are labeled going forward.

Light at the end of the tunnel

I managed to do the revisions for Cabin Fever. Cut 8k from the story. It was painful, but I'm going to use it in another story. The edits for Chicken Soup were simple. Faxed that over. Now that's off my plate. I'm going to read Cabin Fever one last time before sending it to my editor.
Managed to get some words written on His Submissive, my short for Noble Romance. Gave myself a deadline of next Friday to have it to that editor.
Once those are done, it's back to Research Required, which is half done. I have a few ideas written in my handy dandy notebook.

One more day 'til Friday! YAY!

Revision Day

Enough of the slacking for me.

Yesterday I spent the day with the granddaughter. She's growing so quickly. I can't believe she's already 3 months old. We're having our first overnight Labor Day weekend. It's baby T's mom and dad's b-day, so grandma and grandpa are babysitting while they go away to NH for the night. This should be interesting. Haven't had a baby in the house in...well 12 years. LOL

I'm determined to get the revisions for Cabin Fever done and back in my editor's inbox by Friday. Hopefully she'll like the changes and contract it.

Received my short for Chicken Soup for the Soul: All in the Family in the mail yesterday. That needs to be edited and faxed back by Friday. Will get that done today!

Monday, Monday

I had today all planned out...until I got a migraine at 4am. I've been in bed all day trying to get rid of this sucker. Normally, I can pop a Advil migraine and be done with it in an hour at most. HA! Not today. Nope, this one has lingered. I'm finally feeling okay to lift my head.

Not sure if my to-do list will get done. The older kids have been calling all day. They want to come swim - oh, and what's for dinner, Mom? My response? I don't know - what are you bringing!

Hope every one's Monday is better than the one I'm experiencing.

TGIF!

You don't know how happy I am it's Friday. This week has been tough to say the least. But I can finally say I found a way to use the part of my book I have to dump for one editor. I'm going to use it for a short story I'm writing for another editor. AND the short story I had rejected for being too cute, well I'm going to harden that up and use it for my series Lady Shea's Manor. While I was writing Secret Rendezvous I felt it would be perfect for the series.

So, there you have it..my plans for next week. Kid free this weekend - YAY. Might go to the movies. DH wants to see GI Joe. I may humor him! :o)

Chaos

Usually when the DH is out of town I get into a writing frenzy. No such luck this time. We are having a deck built on our pool and the guys were at the door all day long for ice cold water. Okay, it was the least I could do, it was ninety degrees outside.

That wasn't the end of it. There were deliveries and surprise guests. Umm, I do have a day job. Not that I feel like performing that these days.

A year ago our company felt it would be a smart move to merge with another company to become a powerhouse in the IT industry. Well that company has been making pay cuts to our staff, but not their own. Morale is at an all time low. I've lost over 10% of my base salary in the last six months. With over 10 years experience I've been reduced to an entry level position. My co-worker has 22 years and he is now entry level too. How are these people determining what level we're at? They don't even do what our company does!

Pay cuts will continue until morale improves!

Oh well...I don't have the energy to look for a new job in this rotten economy so I'll stick it out and hope something good comes from all this.

On a lighter note, it's almost Friday! YAY!
