Crazy Weekend

My daughter got married this past weekend. She looked absolutely gorgeous and I'm happy to have a new son in law.

The happy couple

And of course my little one was in the wedding too. She was protesting the ceremony and playing in the stones because she was starving. I love this picture still. She turned 3 on Monday.

I won't deny I'm glad the wedding is over. Now to finish up my job and start a new one next week. Things are constantly changing.

EXCERPTS

From “Ethel and the Merman”

“You saved me.” It sounded cliche, but what else could I say? Except perhaps, “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.” His voice was low and smooth, and it washed over me like a tidal wave. His hand moved to the small of my back, ensuring that I didn’t slide off the board as he guided it closer to shore.

Other than the fact that he was probably the most gorgeous guy I had ever laid eyes on, I didn’t notice that anything was awry until the board started moving at a speed that was far faster than humanly possible.

My breath hitched and I gripped the board harder.

“Don’t worry. You’re safe.

Those words...I had heard them before. I started to relax in spite of the speed at which we were traveling. Oddly, I did feel safe.

“How is this possible?”

“Ethel, I’m not what you would call an average man.”

Surprise Passion - Teaser 2

From “Scent of the Centaur”

His voice was smooth and deep with a lyrical quality that poured over my soul like warm syrup. I don’t know what caused me to feel more flustered -- the ordeal I had just experienced, the fact that he was hotter than sin, or the realization that suddenly occurred to me.

“There aren’t any reins...only you and you’re...” What was he? The guide’s words couldn’t be true.

“My neck. Wrap your arms around my neck and hold on like you want to ride forever.”

I was seated on a horse, but I was speaking to a man. I held him tentatively at first, but grew bolder as fear jolted through me with his increased speed. My arm wrapped around his neck as he had instructed, but as he ran, the bouncing promenade tempted my arms to slide, until finally I relented and my hands landed on his bare torso, my fingers resting lightly on his chest and my mind suddenly assaulted by lustful thoughts brought on by his muscular build.

Spotlight on Business or Pleasure from Ashley Ladd

Blurb:
Guy Rogers is extremely attracted to his new realtor, Tom Beaudreaux. As a passionate vegetarian and animal activist, he’s ecstatic that Tom is a kindred soul. He could never be with a carnivore. Unfortunately, Tommy isn’t really a vegetarian or animal activist. He never said he was either, he just didn’t eat meat when he was with Guy. And maybe he emptied his house of all meat and dairy products before inviting Guy over. In fact, Tommy’s family owns the most popular barbecue restaurant in town and if his family has their way, he’ll manage the new location.

When Guy finds out that Tommy eats meat and his family owns a restaurant that is a monument to eating meat, he’s livid and doesn’t know if he wants anything else to do with Tommy.

But then Guy’s life gets crazy –his dad’s paranoia blossoms into violent dementia, he gets arrested for picketing a doggy mill, and then he winds up in even more legal trouble. When Tommy sticks by him through all his trouble and does everything he can to help him, Guy wonders if he’s been too militant and narrow-minded. Perhaps he can learn to live with people who have opposite views.

Excerpt:
Gunshots rang out as they turned onto Guy’s street.
Tommy looked at him and mouthed, “Shit! You don’t think…?”
“I hope not. I don’t know.” Guy pressed the gas pedal to the floor and the car shot forward, fish-tailing.
Tommy fisted the door, hanging on tight. “I hope we’re wrong.”
Guy’s intuition told him he wasn’t. His knuckles turned white they held the steering wheel so tightly. Unafraid for himself but scared for his dad, he pulled into his driveway and jumped out of the car, with Tommy close on his heels.
The woman next door ran outside screaming, tearing out her already tattered hair. She pointed at her front door. “Your father’s shooting up my house and is holding a gun at my dad’s head. He’s going to kill him. You’ve got to do something.”
Tommy yelled as he began dialing on his phone, “I’m calling the police.” As if on cue, police sirens blared in the distance and grew louder by the second.
“I’m going in. I have to stop him.”
“Wait for the police. Don’t put yourself in danger,” Tommy ordered forcefully.
“I have to take the chance. He could kill someone before the police get here. I can’t let that happen.” He put himself in harm’s way for animals, so certainly he could risk his life for his own father and other fellow human beings. He had no choice. It would be his fault if someone got hurt.
So he ran through the open door flailing his arms, hoping he would be in time. “Dad! It’s Guy. Don’t do anything. I’m here. You’ll be okay.”
He’ll be okay? What about me? He’s got a shotgun pointed at my head threatening to blow it off,” the elderly neighbor cried.

Special Guest - Tessie Bradford

I’m excited to share a peek into my new release, Leena’s Men. It is book #2 of my Fated Mates of Mesta series. Leena’s Men is currently available at All Romance Ebooks and Resplendence Publishing and will soon be available on Amazon and other retailers.

Leena’s Men
Copyright: Tessie Bradford, 2014

BLURB:
Transporting cargo between Mesta and its neighboring planets in the Aaron system provides a comfortable living for Leena, however it greatly lacks in the excitement department. Receiving a distress signal from a crippled Earth vessel gets her adrenaline pumping, but being overwhelmed with unfamiliar, intense emotions from the moment of first contact shocks her to her core. Leena has purposefully kept the ‘far-from-guaranteed’ event of finding her soul-bonded mates out of her life plan.
Adam and Craig were seriously considering making some big changes even before finding themselves adrift in space with a fast failing life support system. Their relief and thankfulness for surviving a fiery crash landing is monumental. When they discover that their savior is a beautiful woman who ignites all of their senses at first touch, Adam and Craig know without a doubt that their life together is about to take a course beyond their wildest imaginings.

EXCERPT:
“Leena, I’m picking up an automated distress signal.”
“Origin?”
“This sector, a non-military Earth class B vessel. They must be in serious distress; the signal is extremely weak.”
“Give me their position and attempt to establish contact,” Leena instructed.
As soon as the coordinates locked into her navigation terminal, she changed course to intercept and increased speed to maximum. People of the Galactic Federation planets provided aide to each other without question. It was one of the many attributes that separated them from the insurgent worlds.
The Earth craft was moving at such a slow velocity, it came into view relatively quickly. Leena maneuvered her cargo ship in a wide circle around it.
“Phaedra, are you getting any response?” she asked her co-pilot.
“No. Maybe there are no survivors and it’s functioning on auto?”
“Possibly,” Leena replied, taking note of the severity and pattern of external damage. The ship had obviously been in battle and escaped. The hull burns indicated they’d received heavy hits from behind. “Or the crew may be alive but unable to communicate.”
She took position in the lead and executed a slow turn starboard. When the Earth vessel followed, her heart thudded in her chest and a wave of intense relief swept through her.
“What in the stars?” Leena mumbled. She closed her eyes a tried to calm herself.
“Leena, are you unwell?” Phaedra asked.
“No, no I’m fine.” She drew a deep breath and adjusted their course to Mesta. “Open a channel to home port. At this speed it will be the first we reach.”
“Done.”
“This is H’oug three six nine, we have an emergency,” she announced.
“Leena, this is Caris; explain.” Caris was her eldest brother’s bonded mate.
“We’re leading in a damaged Earth ship. We’ve been unable to establish communication and they’re flying sub-light. I figure they have no navigation since we found them heading away from the inhabited section of our system. Who knows if they have the ability to make a controlled landing?”
“I’ve got you both on scope. We’ll be ready here; you hold back at the outer perimeter.”
“No, that’s too far from port. They won’t be able to see where they’re supposed to go. I’m bringing them all the way in.” Adrenaline raced through her veins. Transporting cargo between Mesta and its neighboring worlds provided a comfortable living, but greatly lacked in the excitement department.
“Do not take any unnecessary risks.”
“Yes, sir,” she responded tersely, choosing to keep the rest of the comments swirling in her head to herself. Learning to deal with the over-protectiveness of Slaterine males was a huge part of a Slaterine female’s daily life.
Leena engaged the communicator attached to the shoulder of her suit, putting her in contact with the three other members of her crew who were not on the command deck. “Prepare for landing.”
As they entered Mesta’s atmosphere, the Earth ship exhibited signs of losing stabilization. When the landing field was clearly visible, Leena veered out of their path, accelerated, and re-positioned to be able to watch their descent. Her nerves kicked into high gear. Gods, please see them to safety, she silently prayed.

Excerpts

EXCERPT 1 (1200 words. Sex scene slightly edited, toned down for blog posts)

“Anything missing?” Garrick asked.
Larissa shook her head then charged back downstairs. “Why would they just mess up the place without stealing anything?” Her throat tightened. “It’ll take me hours to straighten this up in time for opening tomorrow.” Tears filled her eyes.
“Kids,” he said. “The door probably wasn’t closed tightly and the wind blew it open. I’ll have Ramon take a look at it.”
“I should still call the police. The store was vandalized.”
“Don’t. I know the police chief. I’ll mention it to him tomorrow. If you call, you’ll only have a bunch of cars out here and the gossip will spread all through town. You don’t need that kind of publicity.” He started calling on his cell phone.
“Who are you calling?” she asked.
“Ramon and Jordan. I’m telling them to come over now to help straighten up. Between the four of us, we’ll get your place in order.”
“But it’s so late.” Her words cracked.
“They won’t mind.” He hugged her. “You’ll see. We all work together here.”
His embrace felt heavenly warm and safe, made her feel protected and a little turned on. Heat rushed to her face, embarrassed by her physical response to his touch. What was wrong with her? He was showing her kindness and she was getting horny? She pulled away, avoiding his gaze. “Thank you, Garrick. I’ll get started on the front display.”
Twenty minutes later Ramon and Jordan entered the store. “Ramon Travere,” he said by introduction, taking her hand and locking his gaze with hers with an obvious flirtatious up-and-down once-over. Ramon was striking and hot. A few years younger than she with long blond hair that fell past his shoulders. He wore leather pants and boots and a black T-shirt with a bright-yellow smiley face with the addition of devil’s horns and tail attached. Have a nice eternity was inscribed below.
If Garrick was the mysterious and muscular predator, Ramon was the sleek and wild rock star.
“Wow, you weren’t kidding, Garrick,” Jordan exclaimed. “What a mess. Any idea who did it?”
Garrick shot Jordan a glance and her eyes widened. “Doesn’t matter. We’ll get everything ready for you, Larissa. Thank you for hiring me. Garrick said you needed the help.”
Garrick’s expression revealed no clue as to who really arranged the employment. For a college student, Larissa expected Jordan to be younger but she had to be in her late twenties. Her blonde hair was fashioned in a perfect French braid. Her clothes were casual but obviously pricy designer wear and usually far out of a college student’s budget. There was no rich-girl-entitlement attitude, Larissa knew plenty of them in her college. Jordan appeared to be a pleasant, smart and polite young woman. “You’re welcome. I’m happy to have the help. I’ll start you with a few hours and when business picks up, we can add more. How does that sound?”
“Works for me,” Jordan said. “Tell me where you want me to start.”
While Larissa, Jordan and Garrick put the merchandise back in order, refolded and reorganized the displays, Ramon fixed the lock on the front door. The shock and fear of having her new store vandalized eased with the presence of the two men and even Jordan cast an aura of positive energy. Everything would work out well for her first day. The business would thrive.
“Finished,” Ramon announced. “You have a new Schlage deadbolt lock. If anyone tries getting in now, they’ll have to take down the door and frame with it. Want me to add strobe lights and security cameras, Larissa? I can rig some kind of metallic net to drop down and zap them.”
Larissa laughed. “No, the new locks are fine. Thanks. Send me the bill.”
He shook his head. “Garrick will take care of that.”
“That’s not necessary.”

Ramon walked up to her, took her hand in both of his and locked his gaze with hers. “I left my card on your cash register. If you ever need anything, just call.” His searing blue eyes had a mischievous glint and his lips twitched ever so slightly. Larissa felt her stomach tingle as if she were going down the big dip of a rollercoaster with her eyes closed and didn’t know if there was a bottom. Great, now she had the hots for two men? That had never happened to her before.
She tried counting back to when she last had a date. After four months she stopped counting. It was too depressing. No wonder she was responding to all the hot guys in New Hope. Maybe she should consider dating after her business got off the ground. After the holidays.
“Thank you, Ramon.” Her words came out in a breathy whisper. His name rolled off her tongue. He continued to hold her hand and a wave of dizziness passed through her. Closing her eyes, she hoped the sensation would pass. But then a flash of detailed images drifted through her mind.
She was in a large living room, a place she’d never seen before. Ramon stood naked before her in front of a blazing fireplace, the flickering light dancing over his body, reflecting over every cut and angle of his muscles. He was gorgeous and aroused, his cock hard and thick. His eyes glowed with an otherworldly blue glow. Holding out his hand to her, she stepped forward and noticed that she too was naked. The heat of the fireplace warmed her skin. She didn’t know why she wasn’t questioning the situation. She only knew it seemed right and couldn’t resist.
Lie with me. Ramon’s words entered her head but she didn’t see his mouth move.
Yes, she answered with her own thoughts as she took his hand. Gently, he lifted her in his arms and laid her on a thick fur on the floor. His body eased on top of her. Yes, this is so good.
Larissa. Garrick’s voice called her from a distance. The light from the fireplace highlighted his face. He was smiling despite the darkness in his eyes.
She held out a hand to him, asking him to join them. He nodded and the next moment he was naked and lying beside her too. Two men, amazing. “Garrick,” she whispered as his mouth came down on hers at the same time Ramon plunged his cock into her.
“Larissa!” Garrick shouted. She blinked and saw him standing beside the door to the storeroom.
Images of the old house, the fireplace and Ramon and Garrick making love to her vanished, yet her heart still raced. Her vagina continued to contract on empty space and her nipples bore stiff points through her sweater. She glanced at Ramon. Smiling mischievously, he stared at her through half-lidded eyes. “Are you okay, Larissa? You look dazed.” His mouth twitched in a wicked and mischievous grin.
“Yes,” she breathed. “I’m fine.”
“Everything looks in order in here,” Garrick said. “Please check on her tomorrow. Make sure nothing is missing. You can go, Ramon.”
Ramon straightened and nodded.
“Thanks for your help,” Larissa said. Her heart continued to pound and her body was still heated and aroused.
“My pleasure.” He turned to Garrick. “Night, Garrick.”
“I’ll be in touch,” he said. The moment they were alone, Garrick’s gaze swept over her in a spine-melting look that made her nervous and horny. “You still seem shaken. Don’t worry about the break-in.”

The following excerpt from Storm Stallion is for readers 18 and over.

He paused and stared. Bala had filled their wooden tub with warm water. Flower petals floated on the surface, their scent wafting through the room. Bala, her dark hair piled on top of her head, sat in the tub. Water glistened on her smooth brown skin.

"She's at Jane's for the night," Bala said. "Hanna will be our guest tomorrow."

"Oh." Ivan moistened his lips. At the moment his brain wasn't comprehending much beyond the sight of her naked in the tub.

"The water is warm and there's room for two, if you'd like to join me." She cast him a flirty look

She didn't need to ask twice.

Ivan quickly shifted to Huform. The floor shuddered from the force of his change and he paused a moment, letting the momentary weakness pass before he walked to the tub and climbed in, facing Bala.

Smiling, she turned toward him and he drew her into his arms. He spread his legs and she settled between them, her smooth, wet back resting against his chest.

"This is a nice surprise," he said, kissing her shoulder. He gently rubbed her arms, then dropped his hands to caress her inner thighs.

"Yes it is. I hadn't expected you home this soon. I was preparing myself for you."

"Then I'm glad I got an early release."

"An early release?" She purred and reached behind her to clasp his cock. "We'll see about that."

"Really?" He chuckled and turned her to face him.

Bala smiled and straddled him. Their mouths met in a hungry kiss. Ivan kneaded her breasts and rolled the nipples between his thumbs and forefingers. He thrust his tongue into her mouth and she met every possessive stroke with enthusiasm that sent his heart pounding out of control.

EXCERPT

I can’t get her to look at me, I think she’s ashamed that she has no experience to go with. When I’m finally begging, she looks up and I can’t help it. She looks so lost, so sad. I know that she just needs the courage, but how will she ever find it if she doesn’t know what the reward is like? So I lean over, I place my hand on her cheek, and my lips on hers. She doesn’t freak out, so I use my tongue to entice her. I run it along her lower lip. I feel her breathing pick up and I’m nervous she’ll push me away, but when she doesn’t I try to coax her lips apart so I can really kiss her. When she opens them, her tongue meets mine and I have to keep repeating to myself, “Slow, slow, slow,” or my body might take over and try to push her past her limits. She’s not ready for more than this.

I don’t let myself linger too long. I would love to kiss her all night, but she needs baby steps. I need to give her that or this won’t work. “I’m sorry. I couldn’t help myself, but I should’ve made sure it was okay first.” I say it knowing that she needed the surprise of it or it would’ve never happened.

Her response takes me by surprise, “Don’t. Be. Sorry.” She is breathing hard and can’t form a sentence. I love it. That means she loved it. When she brings her hand up to touch her lips, I know I can make this better for her. I stop her hand with mine and leaving the other on her cheek, I lean back in for a deeper kiss. She responds immediately. I make this one longer, but not much. This time when I pull back, we are both panting for air.

“Wow.” A simple statement from her confirming that she liked it.
