Elodie Parkes - Rescuing Cade

What’s the background to the story, Rescuing Cade?
I was asked to write a story for an erotic romance anthology. Almost immediately I had my character, Cade, form in my head and a love story for him, but then I was informed the anthology would be BDSM. I thought I’d have trouble with the genre, but the editor of the proposed anthology said, ‘give it a go’. I began to adapt the love story in my mind for the character Cade, thinking I’d have to consider the plot for a short time, but only a few days later the anthology was cancelled. By then Cade was so real to me and a story with a sprinkle of the genre, BDSM, was firmly in my mind, so I wrote it.
The story is much longer than I originally thought it might be, especially when it was going to be for an anthology, and the romance conflict arc is now about both Cade and my heroine, Marissa. As usual, I fell in love with my characters and couldn’t stop writing until they reached their HEA.
I did a little research for this story because I didn’t know much about the type of club Jack, Cade’s friend, takes him to. Once I no longer needed to place emphasis on dominance and submission, the story unfolded easily, interweaving with the original love story I had for Cade when he first began whispering in my ear.
With scorching hot love scenes, tender moments, a dash of angst and a splash of humor this is Cade’s journey to love again.

I hope readers enjoy it.

Blurb
Rescuing Cade
Cade’s trying to get over a broken heart when his friend Jack takes him off to a nightclub, named only, The Club. Although at first Cade is shocked by the place he meets Marissa. It’s not long before he and Marissa get together, but under the pressure of expectations from, The Club, and Marissa’s fear of commitment, they’re both running in opposite directions.
Gorgeous Cade has touched Marissa’s heart in ways she doesn’t want to admit.
Lovely Marissa has lifted Cade’s sadness and opened his heart to love again.
The trouble is — someone has to give a little. Who’s it going to be?

The lights were low and Marissa took a seat at an empty table close to the small group of people. Strategically placed, she took in the delicious sight that was Cade, only a yard away now.
Blue eyes, mmm, my favorite. Look at those lips, made for kissing, biting, sucking. She cast her eyes over his ass and thighs. She soaked up the sight of his handsome jaw line and her eyes flicked to his groin, where she assessed the hang of his suit pants and licked her lips at the promise of a big cock. Holy hell, he’s gorgeous. I’d like him on a collar and leash waiting for me to slap his ass and fuck him senseless. I’d like to slip a blindfold on him and run a feather over his cock to see it jerk to life. I’d like to tie him to a chair, suck him almost to orgasm, and then leave him to beg for release. Wonder if he’s dom or sub?
As Marissa considered Cade’s preference, he turned and looked straight into her eyes.
A huge stab of sexual excitement throbbed in her pussy. With her clit buzzing, she leaned a little forward to smile at Cade.
He looked away.
Marissa saw him gaze around the room. She watched as his shoulders slumped.
The room was large and divided by obvious walkways. A small dance floor held writhing couples, dangerously close to each other, some half-naked. Doms occupied the tables with their Subs in various scenes, all taking their pleasure without concern. Other Doms sat in the low leather lounges watching. It was all much the same as usual. One Dom fucked his Sub from behind, one hand fisted in her hair, and the other gripping her jaw turning her face to kiss and bite her lips. A Sub straddled her Dom, her hands held high above her head tied with a satin ribbon, as the Dom took his fill of her breasts.
Marissa heard his growl.
“Don’t you come until I say you may … I want you across the table. You’ll come on my fingers and then my cock. Do you understand? I might have to punish you again.”
The Sub’s whispered answer must have been to his liking. He kissed her tenderly.
Marissa looked away. Her pussy creamed and a sigh of appreciation escaped her. Marissa loved sex. She liked to be in control, although she’d scened with a Master, a friend, when she needed release. Her role in The Club was as a Domme, but she was vanilla, the specialist in helping newcomers. Everything she did, she designed to bring maximum pleasure to her Sub whilst simultaneously taking it herself. She enjoyed the control she wielded. It suited her to be the one with the power, and in her mind, the choice to walk away.
The Club had been open for more than a decade and was considered one of the best in the country. Safety was their priority, that and pleasure. To Marissa’s knowledge, no one left The Club after seeking a niche there and never came back.
Marissa found her gaze straying back to Cade.
He stood awkwardly by the table where Jack finger-fucked his current Sub. She laid back with her legs wide apart, her dress up around her waist, and her wrists tied over her head with a blue satin scarf. If she’d worn panties to visit The Club, there was no sign of them now.
Marissa watched the Sub squirm, whimpering for release.
Jack shook his head. “Not yet, sweetheart, I’m enjoying your lovely pussy. Your cream’s running down my palm. I’m going to lick it up and then I’ll think about letting you come. Are you enjoying showing my guest what a good girl you are?”
The Sub murmured, her breath hitching as Jack bent and thrust his tongue into her pussy.
“Yes, sir, it’s exactly how I hoped it would be.”
Marissa’s pussy drenched her panties. She licked her lips.
Cade lurched around and took a step toward her table.
He looked unseeing right into Marissa’s eyes, the expression on his face a glaze of pure confusion, and then he passed by heading to the bar in the corner.
Marissa watched him take a sip of the iced water he’d ordered, then she too got up and walked away from that part of The Club where sex soaked the air with erotic perfume, and the sounds of orgasm played havoc with her own desires.

Full Throttle. Revved 1
Kerrianne Coombes
Evernight April 4th

I am so excited to share this new book with you. Full Throttle is the first in my new Contemporary Romantic Suspense series (Revved) Coming from Evernight Publishing.
I love this story so much, and I cannot wait for you all to meet Josh and Sammy. I enjoyed every moment of getting to know them—I hope you do too. xx

Blurb
When self professed geek and high school math teacher, Sammy Briars, decides its time to live life, she means it. Armed with determination and her life savings, Sammy buys the motorbike she has always dreamed of.
Excited by speed, fast engines and leather wearing men, Sammy finds herself in the company of people who know how to live.
Desperate to ignore the mess her father has left behind in the wake of his death, Sammy sets off looking for adventure.
When Josh Grieve agrees to take his elder brothers bike-touring group on a biking weekend, he expects to see the countryside from the perch on his favorite Suzuki and the chance to kick back from his busy schedule.
What Josh doesn’t expect is for his life to be turned inside out by a timid, intelligent woman who rocks a set of bike leathers.
Thrown together by fate, twisted together by lust. Will Josh be able to overcome his reluctance to commit before it is too late?

Excerpt.

“Have you even slept yet?” he asked, his gaze turning darker as he studied her face.
Sammy swallowed and shook her head weakly. “No, not yet. I can’t seem to fall asleep.” She wondered how she could feel so tired, so weary, yet wide awake at the same time.
Josh swore loudly and moved to her.
Sammy watched as he climbed onto the bed, his big body making the mattress dip under his bulky weight. He threaded his arm under her neck slowly and drew her into his arms. At first Sammy was stiff and confused, but the more he stroked her hair and kissed the top of her head, the more Sammy found she relaxed. The pain receded slightly, freeing up her mind and Sammy was able to catch her breath again.
“You don’t have to do this,” she said weakly, but Josh just tightened his arm around her, making sure Sammy rested her cheek on his chest. His heartbeat was a strong sound under her ear and Sammy reveled in the heat his massive body gave off. They lay in silence for a couple of minutes, and Sammy would have thought it would be awkward, but the way he held her, gently, yet sure and strong, had Sammy sinking closer and closer to the comfort he offered.
“When I was a kid, I broke my arm.” Josh began, breaking the lazy silence. His deep voice was a lovely rumble against her ear. Sammy smiled and closed her eyes as she listened to him speak, the sound of his words a balm to her nerves, a welcome distraction to her pain. “I was climbing trees with my brother, and as usual, Tony was faster and better at it than me.”
Sammy chuckled at the image. Tony was a stocky, slightly overweight man, she couldn’t imagine him climbing a tree, let alone fast.
Josh huffed a small sound and stroked his hand idly over Sammy’s arm. Sammy loved the feeling of his hot, calloused hand as it petted her, the feeling was comforting … nice. She stayed still and kept her eyes closed, and she hoped he wouldn’t stop talking, or stroking.
“You might laugh, sweetheart, but in his day, before kids and a wife, Tony was the coolest lad in town.” Sammy smiled against his chest, her mind slowly relaxing, the pain less, and all she could concentrate on was the sound of Josh’s lovely, sexy voice. Especially when he uttered the easy word, sweetheart. No one ever used an endearment for her, and she found she liked it, a lot.
“I heard how women ruin good men.” Sammy said teasingly, even as she yawned against his chest.
“They certainly do.” Josh replied.
Sammy heard the catch in Josh’s voice, and she suddenly remembered what she’d been told about him being jilted last year. The reminder sent a strange tense feeling through her body, leaving a cold pain in her lungs. But Sammy, selfishly, didn’t want to ruin the only time she had ever been comforted in such a nice way, so she changed the subject back to safer grounds.
“So, how did you break it?” Sammy asked sleepily, eager for him to continue talking. She snuggled a little closer to Josh’s heat and sighed, contented.
Josh cleared his throat, but continued his gentle stroking of her arm. He kissed the top of her head again and Sammy felt tiredness swarm her mind. She yawned and sighed deeply, sleepiness making her heavy and relaxed.
“Go to sleep, Sammy, and I’ll tell you when you wake up.”

Guest Blog - Elodie Parker

Blog Post Night of the Horse from Elodie Parkes for Amber

Hi Amber,
Thank you for inviting me here to talk about a hero from my hot new Evernight release, ‘Night of the Horse’.

I’ve chosen to talk about one of my heroes, but there are really three.
Both the male characters are heroes and the female too, as they all save each other from the lonely life that’s befallen them. How they do it and the journey to salvation is the story.

Night of the Horse

Meet Justin
He’s six feet tall, fit, and muscled.
His hair is short, platinum blonde, spikey, and glossy.
His eyes are chocolate brown.
He’s traveled a lot in his life, sometimes to hide from scrutiny.
His favorite clothes are faded denims and boots, except when he’s a dance teacher in the classes he gives, when he wears a tux.
He doesn’t sleep much and so takes walks in the night.
He’s lonely and looking for love.
He’s an artist.
He’s sensual, gentle, loving, and sexy.
He has his own business.

A lonely young woman signs up for dance lessons. Two gorgeous guys find her as fascinating as she finds them. On the country road where she lives, she hears horses in the night, and opens her bedroom window to watch them gallop. They’re beautiful, a silver white horse and tall black horse...they turn to stare at her. Had they heard and understood when she sighed over them?

Excerpt from Night of the Horse 18+

They stopped only to breathe. Rosie unzipped his jeans and pushed them down. She trailed her fingers along to the front of his thighs. They were hard and muscled. Justin’s tongue pushed against her lips and opened her mouth. As his tongue slid against hers, she took hold of his cock. His erection felt huge and inviting.
He moved his hips, pushing into her hands and kissed her harder. Rosie went liquid, wanting to make love. Her panties were damp against her pussy as she stroked Justin’s cock. She wanted him so badly that when he stripped off her clothes, kissing her as he went she made soft whimpering sounds. He stepped back to take his jeans off, and watched her as she stood waiting for him.
As soon as he was naked, she leaped on him. He laughed as he caught her, and she put her legs around his hips. He kissed her mouth.
“You’re lovely, so sexy.” His voice low, he kissed her again before walking her into the lounge room. He sat down on her sofa and Rosie straddled him. He smiled and kissed her, pulling her up by her hips until she knelt, her legs on either side of his thighs. He stroked his knuckles along her pussy as his tongue slid against hers in another devastating kiss. Then he put a finger into her and Rosie moaned. She pressed onto his hand and he smiled against her lips.
“You’re wet for me.”

Welcome Berengaria Brown

Writing Regency romances by Berengaria Brown

I’ve written several Regency romances. I adore Georgette Heyer and love the Regency era so it was natural for me to try writing a few romances set then myself.
But it’s a lot of work, checking all the facts, and making sure characters don’t act like twenty-first century people. Women had basically no rights back then, so life was very different. But none-the-less women managed to make their dreams come true. They just used different methods from how we might do things today.
A well-born woman couldn’t just leave home, get a job in an industry that interested her, rent an apartment, and live alone. None of those steps was possible. She had to be chaperoned 24/7, preferably by an older male family member, although an older married female would do. She couldn’t rent property, or open a bank account, or work in most areas. Governessing or being a companion was about the limit of the options open to her. This means plots need to be built around the conventions of the day.
Every time I finish writing a Regency story I say, “It’s too much work. Never again.” And yet…
All three books in my Regency series about the Arnott family, “Virgins No More” are now available. The series is MF which is unusual for me.

Book 1: “The Vicar’s Virgin” Blurb:
The Reverend Mr. Ridley needs a wife so he focuses his attentions on Georgina Arnott, a sensible, intelligent, yet attractive woman.
On their wedding night he’s relieved to discover she enjoys the pleasures of the bed, and, after a slow start, their evenings are full of passion and joy for both of them.
Unfortunately, when she takes an interest in his parish, it seems to involve filling his house with noisy people tramping muddy boots through the hallways, and filling his kitchen with dirty children.
He loves his wife. But can this marriage work?

Book 2: “Almost a Virgin” Blurb:
Theodora has loved John Smith ever since she was a little girl. But he’s very wealthy and she is only a vicar’s daughter and sister.
John had been waiting for Theodora to grow up. When he kisses Theodora in the garden at the ball, lust roars through him and he takes her there in the garden, fully dressed, only a few yards away from a hundred people. She’s warm and more than willing in his arms, and it’s not until the deed is done that he realizes he’s just dishonored his best friend’s sister.
Theodora doesn’t regret what she’s done. She enjoyed it and wants more of him. Even though he’s only marrying her because he dishonored her, she doesn’t care. She’ll make him so happy in bed and in his home he’ll stay with her even though he may never love her.

Book 3: “A Promising Virgin” Blurb:
Zethan, Earl of Mitcham, decides that the stunningly beautiful Miss Sapphira Arnott will make him the perfect wife. It’s only when she declines his oh-so-flattering offer, that he realizes how rude and arrogant he’d been, and how much he loves her. The only solution is to woo her properly.
Meanwhile Simeon Arnott is in love with Miss Anne Smith. But she’s incredibly rich and he’s a mere Baronet. Fortunately her brother and she herself accept his proposal and they have an extremely successful wedding night. Their ball, however, was almost less than successful thanks to the “help” of the three youngest Arnotts and their plans to go one better than a recent much-talked-about society event.
Will Sapphira trust Zethan? And what other disasters will the children get involved in?

STORY EXCERPT from “A Promising Virgin”.
The earl was standing at the window, his back to her. He was a very good-looking man—tall, with broad shoulders, and muscled arms and legs. She knew he rode well and played all sorts of manly pursuits. And, of course, he was rich and titled. Simeon was right. She wouldn’t get a better offer than this one from him. And she did like him. She enjoyed his company. He was always a considerate dance partner and his conversation was intelligent and witty. Her heart always beat faster when he held her in his arms for a waltz. She’d known herself very jealous of other women if he danced the waltz with them. Did that mean she loved him? She looked at his taut ass in his tight breeches. His body looked mighty fine and being older than her he’d know well how to please a woman. Her belly clenched at the thought of a man’s hands in all her secret places. She rather thought she’d enjoy the marriage bed. Especially with a well-built, good-looking man like Mitcham.
“Have you finished looking at me, Sapphira? Shall we have the wedding one month from today? In the cathedral of course. No other church will be big enough for all the guests I’ll need to invite.”
Sapphira took a step back in surprise. “You haven’t asked me yet.”
Mitcham stared at her then came closer and took her hands in his. “Dear Miss Arnott, please accept my offer to unite my house with yours in holy matrimony.”
“Do you care for me at all?” she asked hesitantly.
“You’re beautiful. Your wealth and lineage are adequate. You suit me well enough. I’ve never proposed to anyone before, if that’s what you mean. Now, I’ll send my man of affairs to the Bank of England to my lockbox to retrieve the diamond and ruby ring. You can go to Rundell and Bridge tomorrow so they can alter it to fit your finger properly. Then—”
She pulled her hands out of his grasp. “But you don’t care for me as a person. I’d always hoped to marry a man who cared for me at least a little.”
“Of course I care for you. I’m about to spend a monkey altering a family heirloom ring to fit your finger.”
“That’s not what I mean. My mama and papa loved and respected each other. They had a happy marriage. Georgina and Barnabas have found happiness together. They too love each other. I want to marry a man I can love and who loves me in return.”
“Love is for peasants, not for people of our class. You can love our son when he’s born. I will provide you with everything you can possibly need.”
“No. No you can’t. Because what I need is to be loved. I’m sorry, my lord, but I cannot accept your very flattering offer.” Sapphira turned and ran out of the room.
