It's Friday - So What

So it’s been a helluva week. Yesterday I had some dental work done and let’s just say they didn’t fix it properly. I can’t eat without being in pain. My right side is sensitive to hot and cold and my jaw is in agony. I’m going back today to have it fixed – hopefully properly.
If that wasn’t enough…I was at my desk and talking to the hubby, who was upstairs. I’m yelling up and he’s yelling back down. I had to go into our daughter’s room, which is right next t to my office and I come out still talking to him. He wasn’t answering so I go to the living room and what do I find? Him, on the floor, his teeth clenched and holding his leg, his knee to be exact. The baby gate is on top of him…this was kinda funny to me, but I tried not to laugh. He’s hurt.
First I must explain…there’s something about people falling and hurting themselves that all the women get into a fit of laughter over. I don’t know why…I inherited that gene. So, pinching my lips together I rush over and try to casually ask if he’s okay. I’m trying not to laugh. I know he’s in pain because he’s wincing and the man doesn’t complain ever.
It took all my might, but I managed to keep my composure and find out what happened. It appears he missed a step on the way down the stairs and fell…oh, and he had his laptop in his hand. Guess what he says…I saved the laptop.
Great!!!! And busted up his knee in the process. It’s badly bruised, nothing was broken. When the doctor asked if he wanted the morphine he declined. I offered to take his share but they weren’t willing to give it to me. Bastards!
And so that’s how my week has been. I have to work overnight tonight and all day tomorrow. Let’s hope he can hobble around enough to take care of the baby for me.

In a Professional Rut

Teagan had her first set of shots yesterday and she had a rough day. By her 3am feeding she was back to smiling and babbling making me feel much better. It breaks your heart when they’re in pain and you can’t do anything.
It seems lots of people had a rough day yesterday. The Red Sox really blew it. I kinda gave up on them a few weeks ago. I’m not sure why they fell apart, but they did. Baseball season is over for this house.
That’s about all that’s going on in my life. Working hard at the day job, wondering if it’s time for a change with my position. I’ve been doing the same thing day in and day out for five years. I’m thinking maybe it’s time to move to a different department and learn something new. I feel like I’m in a rut. I’m bored and under challenged. Only that little saying keeps nagging me – “Be careful what you wish for.”
Food for thought.

Happy Thursday!

Exhausted

Saturday was a fun day. Sunday a day from hell. It started off pretty good. I did the grocery shopping bright and early, my son came in from NY for a SHORT visit and we went to the local Home Show. We get home around 4ish and my youngest had a swollen finger. Red hot and ugly looking. Off to Hasbro’s. For a small state they have too many rules when it comes to kids. Back home I could’ve brought my daughter to any of the local hospitals, but not in RI. Nope you can only go to the children’s hospital. Okay well guess what? Everyone and their freakin’ brother were there yesterday. But because she had another infection earlier in the week I was concerned enough about the finger to wait it out. Wait it out we did. Six LONG hours. During which time the infection began working to two other fingers. Boy am I glad I stuck around. They injected her with antibiotics on the spot and gave her two pills. I could tell it was working because the knuckle lost some of the redness within the time of the IV. We didn’t get home until 11pm after a quick trip to McDonalds because none of us had eaten since lunchtime, except for animal crackers out of the vending machine. Someone will have to be on their death bed to get me back to that hospital again. Talk about 100 sick kids running around. Not a place for me to be, but I wasn’t leaving my daughter, even though the DH said they’d be fine. So today I have a ton of catching up to do and an overly busy day at work. No writing today. :o(

Jumping Right Back into the Week

It’s Monday again. I’m taking it easy today. Yes, I’m working the dreaded day job, but I worked all weekend and was stuff on a con call for over 6 hours on Saturday. I do NOT like the phone people. I feel like I haven’t blogged in a long time with guest bloggers and new releases.
Life has been crazy. We had T overnight on Friday. She arrived over tired, but she was so cute. It was bedtime and she’d been rubbing her little eyes for well over 40 mins. So I said, “Bedtime.” She walks to her old bedroom where I keep her pack and play, crying all the way. I followed her in to find her leaning against her bed whining. She knew there was no fighting it – she was exhausted. She slept for 3 straight hours and then woke demanding I sleep with her. I did NOT get a good night sleep. We slept on my other daughter’s twin bed and I woke with a cramp in my thigh the next morning.
By 10am all hell broke loose at work and I had to have T picked up. I felt bad, but work called.
In other news:
The last of my goody bag promo stuff is scheduled to arrive tomorrow so the bags should be done, done, done this week.
I’m down to the wire on the latest book. I’m writing the second to last scene so that should be finished by Friday too.
Today I’m going to read a book. There’s a novel idea! LOL
Happy Monday!
