Oh So Happy

The wedding plans are coming along nicely and I’m almost done paying my portion of the event. That means I’ll be free to get rid of the second job. Once that job is gone I’ll have more time for writing again. I’ll be able to do what I love the most. Sure I’m still writing. Not as much as I want to be…but at least the words are flowing.
I’m currently editing Trapt in Troy, a rock band story. I sent the first chapter to my critique partner and friend Katalina Leon. She sent me back positive feedback. I’m thrilled to be moving forward on this project.
Spring has arrived on the calendar, but if you walk outside here in Rhode Island it tells a different tale. The temps are mid-30s. Not spring weather in my mind. Oh and then there’s snow in the forecast for today. Snow!
We’re only expecting 1-3 inches and I’m sure it’ll melt over the weekend. Seriously though, I’m so sick of this weather. I want warm temps. And you can take that in a whiney voice because I’m whining over here. My teeth are chattering from the cold. Okay, so that’s a bit extreme.
The little one has been sick with croup. She was generous enough to pass her illness along to mommy. I’ve been sick with a cold or sinus infection for 4 days now and I feel like dog doo.

Other than that I’m happy with the way things are moving along. Things can only get better from here.

New Contract

Monday I received a contract for a book I wrote last summer. I sent off the paperwork yesterday so hopefully I’ll be able to share the DEETS with you next week. Other than that the writing has been slow. I’m talking snail pace slow. It’s like pulling teeth to get this current wip written. Maybe it’s the characters, maybe it’s the plot or maybe it’s the dreaded dreary weather that won’t seem to lift. I know April showers bring May flowers, but I want some sunshine. We had a new landscaper here the other day to give us some quotes and I have pansies that bloomed again. He was totally surprised – so was I to be honest. He asked where I bought them and I told him either Home Depot or Lowes. He laughed and said super flowers. So currently my flower beds are half full. Not all of them came back to life. Once we get a break in weather I’ll plant some new flowers. I’m getting things ready to attend the NEC RWA conference at the end of the month. Time seemed to slip away from me and I’m just realizing I need to gather my promo stuff. Yikes! Less than three weeks away. You wouldn’t mind, but we’re traveling the weekend before to go see family in NY for Easter. Off to work the dreaded day job. Happy Wednesday!

Spring has arrived

Today is a return to the daily grind. It’s dreary outside after a beautiful weekend. The DH and I got a lot done around the house. Things that had to wait because, someone was sick in our house every weekend the last five weeks.
We managed to get to the movies yesterday afternoon. We did see Limitless. I really enjoyed the movie. When it starts out Bradley Cooper is a writer suffering from writer’s block. He’s scraggly, his apartment is a mess and his life is falling apart. I could relate to the writer’s block part. We’ve all suffered from it at some point in our life. I looked to the DH and asked, “Do I look like that?”
There are times when I stay in my pj’s until 5pm or so, but I thought the way they portrayed him was a bit over the top. Hubby reassured me that I wasn’t that bad. LOL
The character took this pill that opened all parts of his brain. He sat down and wrote a book in four days. I immediately wanted this pill! Seriously. I’d love to have the energy to write a full length book in four days. I’d love something that allowed my brain to write for more than 1-2 hours.
Anyway, the two hours flew by and I didn’t check my phone for the time once. So, that’s a good movie to me.
I looked at my calendar this morning and realized the writer’s conference I’m attending is only a month away. NECRWA will be held April 29-30th. I have to get my butt in gear and get my promo together. There isn’t much time.
This week will be busy prepping and getting other writer stuff done, along with the day job which has picked up again.
Happy Spring!
