Special Guest Tessie Bradford

Thanks so much for having me here today, Amber. I’m excited to share a little bit of my new release, Pleasuring Anne!
It is available now at www.resplendencepublishing.com www.allromanceebooks.com and available soon at www.amazon.com

Blurb:
Anne hasn’t enjoyed the company of a man in three long years and she’s over it. Fantasies and fiction are wonderful, but you can’t snuggle up with them in bed. Getting back into the dating scene after a lengthy hiatus is nerve wracking, and choosing a sleazebag the first time out of the gate is more than a little embarrassing. When two cops show up wanting her to help them nail the wanted felon, she can’t stop herself from bursting into peals of laughter. The irony is just too delicious. Standing on her front porch is her vision of male perfection; Detective Garth Slaiter.
Garth is always in control of his emotions, but kissing the gorgeous and quirky Ms. Karmer the moment they’re alone together just feels like the right thing to do. When she eagerly returns his attentions, Garth will settle for nothing less than completely pleasuring Anne.

“Victoria DeMallen, a strong, feminine name. I like it.”
“Thanks. Coming up with it was almost harder than writing my first book.”
“Which one would you like me to start with?”
“Pardon me?”
Her cheeks took on a most glorious shade of pink, sending him straight to horny heaven. “Connie’s Cops seems a natural choice, but I certainly defer to you, the author, to make a recommendation.”
“I don’t picture you as a ‘reading romance books’ type of guy.”
“What do you picture me doing instead, Anne?”
She ran the tip of her tongue across her lower lip and appeared to be seriously considering her answer. “May I exercise my right to remain silent?”
“Sure. Let me help you out with that.”
Garth cradled the back of her head and lowered his mouth to hers. He started out slowly, tasting and teasing until she lightly rested her palms on his hips and let out the cutest little sigh he’d ever heard. He tightened his fingers in her hair and her lips parted. Their tongues met and the kiss morphed from wonderful to mind-blowing in an instant. Anne wrapped her arms around his waist, pressing her incredible tits into his chest. Garth used his free hand to grasp her ass cheek. She whimpered and dug her fingernails into his back. They devoured each other until they were both gasping for air.
He shifted his stance to make certain she got a clear picture of how hot and hard he was for her. She dropped her head onto his shoulder and snuggled into him. Garth could feel the frantic pounding of her heart.
“I’m on tonight and tomorrow until ten then off for three days. What’s your schedule this week looking like, sweetheart?”
She lifted her head and stared at him wide-eyed.
Garth gently brushed his fingers along her cheek. “When was the last time you made out with a perfect stranger?”
“Never.” Anne breathed the word at barely above a whisper.
“Me either.” He recognized relief in her eyes at his admission. “Seems as if the prudent thing for us to do would be to spend some quality time together, don’t you think?” He kissed her lightly on the chin.
“Well, I pretty much set my own hours. What do you have in mind?”
Her cautious response was in direct odds to her making no attempt to extricate herself from his embrace. “Hum, waiting to commit until you see if my offer is worthy; very crafty of you.” He hesitated for a few seconds despite knowing instantly what he planned to suggest. “Going to the movies or to dinner are out, way too conventional. How do you feel about a little friendly competition in a casual and playful setting?”
“Go on,” she encouraged, interest obvious in her expression.
“Miniature golfing.”

Have a great day, everyone!

Coming to Champagne Book Group and Carnal Passions on September 2, 2013

First and Ten: Let the Games Begin
“A Swinging Gate Sports Romance”

Tagline/Logline:   In football and romance, true winners are only determined by how long their hearts stay invested in the game.

Back cover blurb:

Football superstar Kemper Kapertone is caught in a compromising position. Thrust into a media frenzy, Kemper flies across the country hoping to save a relationship now shattered beyond repair.

Tired of waiting on the sidelines, Kara Ball decides the role of jilted lover doesn’t work for her. Kara springs into action and pursues her sexy neighbor, an irresistible Dom who is twenty-seven years her senior and the object of her most recent fantasies.

Zak Stone stops by Kara’s condominium to drop off a parcel, but after the sexy seductress learns of her boyfriend’s engagement, plans change.  Soon, Kara opens up a package filled with illicit toys and the naughty ideas start churning.

While Kemper races against time to set things right, Kara invites Zak to stay overnight, hoping an evening of passion will keep him coming back for more. Fortunately for Kara, Zak is only interested in playing for keeps.

Rated R Excerpt:

A door slammed and her eyes popped open. “Oh my God.”
Zak quickly pulled out, resting his forehead on her back as if he needed a moment to gain his bearings. “What the hell is he doing here?” His voice was dangerously low.
Kara shuddered. Her ragged breath came out in spurts.
How much had they heard? Worse still, how long had they stood there and watched her in the throes of pleasure, in the clutches of passion?
Carly turned away. Kemper looked at her dead on.
Zak scurried to his feet. “Don’t you believe in knocking?”
“Kara?” The color washed out of Carly’s face when she turned to the room once more. “What were you thinking?”
A hoarse cry fell from Kara’s chest. “What are you two doing here?”
“I should ask you the same thing,” Kemper said.
“As if you have a right!” Kara’s blazing fury shook through her body. To make matters worse she was still tied and bound, slumped in a doggie-style position on the contraption Kemper had sent her as a gift.
All things considered, it probably wasn’t the best time to let him know how much she appreciated his thoughtfulness, even though she was tempted.
Zak stood in front of her with his hands blocking his cock. “Can you give us a minute?”
“What the hell are you doing to my girlfriend?” Kemper stalked him then.
Kara tried to wiggle one way or another in an effort to free herself. “Why aren’t you on your honeymoon?”
“Psht!” Carly exclaimed, though she didn’t bother with a true reply.
Kemper clenched his fists and glared at Zak. “If I were you, buddy, I’d get lost.”
“I’d listen to him,” Carly said.
Kara grabbed an opportunity to glare at her best friend. “Just who are you to tell us what to do?”
“The friend who loves you,” Carly assured her. “I’m concerned about you, Kara. Clearly, you aren’t thinking straight.”
“I’ve never been so sure and confident in my life,” she snapped, turning her attention to Zak. “Don’t go, Sir.”
“What?” Carly and Kemper chimed in together.
“I’m not going anywhere, baby,” Zak said, grabbing his towel and wrapping it around his waist before pulling a sheet off the bed and covering Kara’s body. Dipping his hands under the coverlet, he blindly fumbled with the shackles in an effort to free her. “The two of you should wait downstairs. We weren’t expecting company at four-thirty in the morning.”
“We?” Kemper pushed by Zak and glared at Kara. “And what is this Sir shit?”
Kara glared at Carly and thinned her lips, silently pleading with her friend to take Kemper and go. Instead of aiding her, Carly asked, “What is that doohickey you’re wearing?”
Kemper bit out, “I sent her all these things so she would get used to the idea of Domination and submission!”
Carly scowled. “You?” She shoved her balled fists against her waist. “You didn’t get very much bang for your buck now did ya?” She glanced around the room. “How’d all this work out for you, babe? Hmm?”
Kemper’s face turned blood red. “I think she’s got the hang of it.”
“Considering I don’t receive gifts like these and I’m the one who loves the lifestyle, maybe you should ask yourself if you gave the right presents to the right woman. If I’d been in a contraption like that, you can bet your sweet ass you would’ve been the one coming in from behind!” Carly threw up her arms and stormed out of the room.
Kemper ignored Carly and stood over Kara, acting as if he were taking in the whole scene. “Have you been seeing one another long?”
“No.” Zak supplied the answer.
“I didn’t ask you!” Kemper never looked away from Kara.
“Obviously not,” Kara bit out. “The package just arrived today.”
“Be a gentleman and wait downstairs for us,” Zak said.
“I am not talking to you!” Kemper yelled, his muscles bulging around his short sleeves. He acted as if he were seconds away from taking that first swing.
Kemper had always been slow to anger, but when that ugly beast rose to the fore, he went berserk. She didn’t want to witness a fight. She just wanted Kemper and Carly to go.
“Please wait downstairs.” Kara couldn’t believe this was happening. “Please.”
“Why would you do this?” Kemper dragged his hand from forehead to chin. The slow act brought on a noticeable transformation. A furious expression replaced the face of betrayal and confusion.
Zak placed his hand on his shoulder. “You heard the lady. She wants you to wait—”
“Get your hands off me!” Kemper screamed, shrugging away from him. “You don’t want to go up against me, buddy!”
“She wants you to wait downstairs and you can do that now or I can call the police. Take your pick.”
Kemper laughed and another demeanor emerged, one Kara hadn’t seen in the past. He glared at her like he saw straight through her. “He doesn’t know. Does he?”
“Know what exactly?” Zak knelt next to her again and finished unbuckling the restraints. He helped her to her feet. “What don’t I know?”
Kara met Zak’s curious gaze, but she couldn’t speak. She knew what Kemper wanted her to tell him, but she couldn’t bring herself to say the words. If she voiced them then, she would feel like such a kept woman.
She studied Kemper and gauged his behavior. That was precisely what he wanted her to feel like in that very moment—a kept woman, somebody’s whore, and his little puppet.
Slow to regain her balance, she grabbed the bedpost and held the white linen sheet to her chest. Her bottom was sore with the recent reminder of what she’d done and with whom.
Both men stood side by side. She couldn’t hide from either of them. She couldn’t run, because where would she go? Carly returned to the room with her arms crossed. She was equally pissed, but Kara couldn’t figure out why.
At the moment, Kara didn’t care. Carly had known she was infatuated with her neighbor. Hadn’t she suspected something like this would eventually happen?
“She won’t tell you, so I will,” Kemper said, stomping across the room to the walk-in closet. Swinging the door wide, he shook his finger inside. “Those clothes are my clothes. This is my bedroom. This is my condo.” He swung around and waved his finger in Kara’s direction. “And that woman—regardless of what happened here—is my fucking woman!”

Welcome Tessie Bradford

Thanks for having me here today, Amber!

My new release is Training Randi. It is now available at www.resplendencepublishing.com and will be available soon on amazon, ARe and other third party retailers.

Training Randi was originally released as a short story in the Carnal Reunions anthology. I had great fun lengthening Jeff and Randi’s story, delving deeper into their relationship, and giving them a new even happier HEA!

BLURB:
Miranda Ellson graduated from college with a degree in design in one hand and a ticket out of town in the other. Ten years, a couple of job changes and three boring, unfulfilling relationships later she’s back at RU to re-connect with old friends, enjoy the campus activities and take a break from…oh who the hell is she kidding? Jeff Briggs, former college neighbor and best bud, now successful gym owner, lives in town. He’s the only guy she has ever known who could set her panties on fire by simply walking into a room and Randi is sick and tired of only hooking up with him in her dreams. This may be her only chance to discover exactly what kind of personal training he has to offer.

“The only experiences which matter are the one’s we’re about to share.”

He stood up from the couch, and in one swift motion, removed his T-shirt. His chest was magnificently sculpted and lightly dusted with caramel-colored hair. He fixed her with a heated stare as he tossed the shirt into the nearest chair and toed off his tennis shoes.

“You will follow my directions without question and answer me immediately when I speak to you. Do you understand?”

“Absolutely.” Her pulse rate sped up.

His tone was serious, his stance rigid, both fitting how she perceived him in general, and the role she wanted him to take in their lovemaking. A rush of desire shot through her system.

“My bedroom is down the hallway, second door on the right. Feel free to freshen up and make yourself comfortable. I’ll join you in a few minutes.”

Randi clamped her teeth tightly together, fighting down the urge to babble. It was her nature to chat incessantly when she was excited or nervous, but rules were rules. Why wasn’t he coming with her right now? What level of fresh and comfortable was he looking for if she only had a couple of minutes? She hopped up from the couch and scurried down the hallway.

Jeff’s huge bedroom was furnished sparingly with one comfy looking armchair, a small nightstand, a king-sized four poster bed and a stunningly beautiful, obviously antique, armoire. Sliding glass doors on the far wall framed a beautiful view of the backyard. The connecting bathroom was the size of her kitchen and dining area combined. She quickly took care of business, not wanting to leave Jeff waiting.

Ten minutes later, if the clock on the wall was correct, she stood in the middle of his room, getting more anxious by the second. Where the hell was he? His definition of a few minutes left a great deal to be desired.

She paced the floor, curling her toes in the plush carpeting before finally stopping in front of the armoire. Magnificent metal hardware stood out boldly against the light finish of the wood. Randi reached out, touched the intricate pattern on one handle and jumped back when the door opened a fraction.

She shot a glance over her shoulder to ensure that she was still alone in the room before cautiously swinging the armoire door open. Nine large hooks lined the velvet-covered interior, each one supporting some very interesting equipment. She ran her hand over two sets of handcuffs. A red ball gag hung on a hook next to a leather mask. She was pretty sure a set of nipple clamps dangled from another hook, but she’d only read about those. A couple of the other items were a complete mystery. It was the bottom three hooks that drew her attention. Hanging from one was a fur-covered paddle. Next to it dangled a short riding crop. Draped over the last hook was a black, thick-handled flogger. She tentatively ran her fingers through the fronds before lifting it and testing the weight in her palm.

“A favored training tool of mine. I can’t wait to see your ass glowing pink from its strokes.”

She spun around quickly, shocked and embarrassed at being caught snooping. She stared at the flogger dangling from her trembling hand before meeting his eyes.

Jeff stood in the doorway with his arms crossed over his chest. “Bring it to me.”

Welcome Guest Ivy Bateman

Tell us about your favorite character from your books.
My favorite character from my books is Lily Sinclair, the lead character in my current release. Perhaps readers may be confused as to why she is my favorite since Lily is an extremely cold person who treats people badly, uses people and pretty much does as she pleases, but she was a lot of fun to write! She is so different than me; almost polar opposite in a lot of ways and it was a challenge to write someone like that. A lot of my characters have tiny aspects of me in them, but Lily doesn't. Ok...maybe a little. Some of the things she actually says to people, I may think, but never say!

Tell us about your current release.
My current release is called Baby, You're Cold Inside. It was released from Breathless Press back in December. Like my second release with BP, The Fifth Story, back in September, 2012, it's a paranormal erotic tale. However, this one is a holiday tale inspired by the classic "A Christmas Carol". Lily is the Scrooge character and she is taken back in time by an ice creature who wants to melt her icy nature and release the warm soul he believes lurks inside. It's nice that he tries...

Has someone been instrumental in inspiring you as a writer?
My daughter (who is in middle school and no, she hasn't read my books!) was and continues to be an inspiration to me. She's been a gifted writer since she started writing in kindergarten. She just picks up a pencil and writes. There's not a lot of humming and hawing...she just gets down to business. I do take a while to get started, but once I do, I write like she does: quickly and with passion.

Has someone helped or mentored you in your writing career?
I have been very lucky in that I have many people in my life that I can turn to and talk about writing. My husband is one of them. He is always encouraging and helpful. My friend "J" loves to talk shop and has introduced me to other local writers. And over the last year I have met other writers through blogging who have been extremely inspiring and helpful with my writing and other things that have nothing to do with writing.

What do you think makes a good story?
Personally, what I look for in any story are characters that have depth. I love a book that has characters that are so believable that you can imagine a life for them beyond the page or you can figure out a back story for them even if the author doesn't tell you what that is. However, I may be that way because I have a theatre background and we had to figure out our characters back story whenever we picked up a script.

How do you develop your plots and your characters? Do you use any set formula?

This too could have something to do with my theatre background, but I honestly let me characters dictate the main plot. I usually have certain plot points figured out, but not always how to get from plot point to plot point. When I'm writing and I've gotten to know my characters a bit, I think to myself "What would (character) do in the situation?" and go from there. I have no formula at all.

What is your favorite meal?

I have two: full breakfast (bacon, eggs, pan fries and more!) and a dinner of rare steak, salad and a baked potato smothered in butter and sour cream!

What do you do to unwind and relax?
I love to read and I intend on doing a lot more this year than I did last year. I also love to dance around the house with my daughter and watch TV shows on DVD with my husband.

Morning Person? Or Night Person?
I think I'm a late morning, early evening person. My energy gains momentum around 10 or 11am and then peaks again around 7pm.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
I'd like to thank all those people out there who have picked up my books over the last year. I know my voice and my story telling is a little off kilter from other books in the romance genre and I appreciate those who have taken a chance on a new writer. I have had some interesting feedback; some of it positive and some of it not. I'm fine with either and although sometimes the negative is hard to swallow, stirring someone to express their opinion is wonderful. Writing is an art form and if anyone is moved by your work, negatively or positively, you've done your job as artist.

Blurb for Baby, You're Cold Inside, By Ivy Batmean
Lily Sinclair isn't in the Christmas spirit.
Successful, sexy and headstrong; being nice is too overrated when being naughty is so much more fun. However, there are those who believe that her cool interior stands in her way of true happiness. On the night when something a little bit colder than Lily takes her on a journey to her past, she goes along for the ride, but...
Will her guide show her just what it will take to melt her icy soul?

Excerpt from Baby, You're Cold Inside By Ivy Bateman
"Oh yes, my dear, just a little bit further...come on honey...just bend over a little further. Come on now—just a little bit lower, that's it." I bite my lip to keep from screaming. "That's right keep it up, keep it up...I'm so close, yes, baby keep it up—no, no, no! Not now!"
I lean over my desk and punch the intercom. "Phillip! Get your ass in here now!"
He doesn't respond to my holler. Maybe he has the volume turned down. He's done that before, the bad boy, trying to ignore me. What kind of assistant does that to his boss? One that doesn't last that long, that's who.
I punch the intercom button again, harder even though it won't make a difference, but I'm desperate and my buzz is quickly fading away.
"Phillip! Don't ignore me! I need to see you in my office now!"
Again, he isn't doing anything! Okay that's not true. He's still doing something. He is still filing and bending over, which is a marvel to behold, but his moves are being wasted! I open my desk drawer and pull out a squishy ball. I chuck it at the mirrored glass that stands approximately twenty feet from the front of my desk. Phillip jumps and screams like a girl. He glances at the mirrored glass looking slightly shamefaced. He can't see me, but he knows I can see him. Wow, he's a good looking guy...who isn't moving!
My morning good time feeling is being quickly defeated by the anger that is starting to build up in my system. I throw a second ball against the glass. Another girlish scream erupts from Phillip, but this time he springs into action. He hot foots it to my door and opens it at top speed. He's breathless and nervous which is perfect; it's the way I like my men.
"Yes, Ms. Sinclair? Is there something I can help you with?" He runs a hand through his shiny brown hair and steps into my office.
"No, Phillip, I just like to throw things at my wall to hear you squeal. Thank you for being so obliging." I am sarcastic to the point of it being farcical, but my lovely yet sometimes a little dim assistant doesn't pick up on it even a little.
"Oh, that's fine, Ms. Sinclair. I-I-I like to squeal for you." He blushes and looks at his large, polished shoes. "I'll go back to my desk and listen for another ball. Thank you for making me aware that you like my noises." He backs toward the door, his face now the shade of a ripe tomato. It's adorable, but I don't have time for adorable.

Adding Bestseller to my Title!

I guess I can laugh now…
Last week I blogged about how my book Out to Protect, the M/M was ripped apart and some of the comments were downright nasty and hurtful, well. Today I’d like to announce that Out to Protect is a Bestseller on Are.
It’s a first for me, but I’m excited. Even if I had to go to the dark side to get there. LOL Seriously, I enjoy writing M/M on occasion. I’m thrilled it’s selling like gangbusters.

Happy Monday!

Whisper on a Scream
Synopsis
The werewolves are dying. Years of war between the Born werewolves and bitten, along with a lack of healthy bloodlines, has taken its toll on the race and if something isn’t done soon they will all be gone within the next fifty years. They are a strong breed, but have one major weakness that will probably end them all.
Werewolves – like their natural counterpart the wolves – breed for life; and if there is no mate, there is no life. A prolonged separation between mates can kill them more efficiently than any bullet ever could.
The Council are playing with fire when they use this very weakness against Sugar Lubec, the Born daughter of two bitten parents, to carry the offspring of Alpha Jack Coon. He is the leader of the largest werewolf pack in North America.
Ending the war between the two groups is the only thing that can save the werewolves and bring Jack and Sugar together. Can they do it before they end up paying the ultimate price for their long separation? Or will that price be the only thing that can end the war?

***
Excerpt
“Miss Lubec, though Alpha Coon's offer may be tempting, I must keep in mind the bloodlines from which you are descended. Your parents have killed off our race for over thirty years. They left you for dead and you were brought up by the human race. From looking through your records, I have come to the conclusion that you were raised to be a monster and you do it well. You showed signs of aggression at a very early age and showed no hesitation when it came to injuring people. Dangerous enough as a human woman, but a recipe for disaster as a werewolf because that is what you now are. As I see it, Miss Lubec, you are your mother's daughter right down to your good looks and quick wit.” Even though I knew nothing of my family, I now knew enough to know that this was a bad thing.
“But …” the second speaking member continued, “I am not the only member of this Council, and some feel you should be given a chance to thrive in a Pack-related environment, even if it is only an temporary experiment.”
The only person in the line up who looked at me was the woman on the end, Jack's relative. She was my saving grace, but she had a dangerous air about her. They say politics can corrupt an otherwise pure mind, and the longer you are exposed to them the worse it becomes – like standing next to a power plant and letting it turn your brain to cancer.
“Alpha Coon was right to offer the one thing we need, but I am denying you both that right. You will be allowed to live within the Pack for as long as you wish, but you will not be permitted to marry or have children within its ranks.” The woman at the end of the table flinched – as well as a woman of her age and condition could – but quickly covered it. I saw in that moment that she hadn't gotten the job for her lack of backbone or wit, and though she may have seemed decrepit, she was a force to be reckoned with. At the moment, I was just glad she seemed to be on my side.
Jack stood up, knocking his chair to the floor in his rush. “You're condemning her to death!” His features were twisted in hate and rage, as he pointed a finger towards the speaking elder.
I stood up and placed a hand on his extended arm lowering it gently. With it Jack's whole body sagged. It looked like my touch had the same affect on him as his did on me. A warrior's lace; the one thing that can soften a man of war is a woman's lace. A high school English teacher once told me why women like Lady Guinevere and Helen of Troy, though they were not the appointed leaders of their nations, could build them up according to the men they chose to love. The women could also be their death, depending on how the cards fell.
“No Mr. Coon, she will be permitted to marry outside the Pack if she chooses a human companion, but if you decide to once again ignore our commands, you will be punished with a death...hers.” The old man gave a confident nod of his head to signal the meeting's end and the group stood and filed out the way they came in, including the oldest woman, without a second glace in my direction.
Jack dropped his head into his hands when the room was empty. “They are testing my patience.” He voice made my lips curl into a frown. He sounded too confident for a man who feared this group so much.
I stood in back of his chair like a painted doll and stared at the clock...still ticking. Life goes on once again …

Synopsis:

Daniel Webb is your fairly average twenty-something year-old, living in the bustling city of Stone Hills, Arkansas. High school graduate, College dropout, and currently an employee of a local coffee shop, where he spends the majority of his nights hovering over a hot grill. You know, a totally glamorous lifestyle...
Oh, yeah, and Sarelia, an elder spirit of the Lower World, gifted him with powers beyond his wildest imaginings only a few months ago. Some people would have been grateful. Others would have simply been in denial.
All Daniel feels is resentment.
Because honestly, Daniel's life is kinda sucking at the moment. His girlfriend Malorie dumped him. He's crashing on his brother, Mark's couch (who's being a bit of a dick about the whole thing), and his best friend, James Harin, won't stop smothering him with pity.
But when Daniel bumps into the sexy Alyssa Vega at The Pub and ends up going home with her for some no-strings-attached fun, something finally seems to be going right. Alyssa is just the spot of normalcy Daniel needs in his freak show of a life.
Until his sexy one night stand turns out to be a freak just like him. A rather badass freak as a matter of fact.
So much for normalcy.
As the temptation to use the power Sarelia gave him grows stronger, Daniel finally gives in and embraces the strength the power gives him. With it, he can do anything.
Well, except raise the dead.
Too bad the power's so damn addicting..

Excerpt:

The young woman gave a shudder of ecstasy and fell away from the shimmering form of the other. Exhausted from their furious lovemaking, she laid in the grass for several long minutes before she finally whispered, “Thank you, Mistress.”
When the elder spirit smiled, the expression was filled with heat and yet lacking in warmth. Moving to kneel beside the girl, she brushed a few sweat-soaked strands of hair from her face.
“My dear, I have a favor to ask of you.”
Without hesitation, the young woman nodded and pushed herself to a sitting position. “Ask it. I would do anything for you.”
Sarelia beamed, reveling in the girl's obedience, and she drew her in for another kiss, for another taste of the power the girl so loved and craved. Pulling away ever-so-slightly, the elder spirit breathed against the other's warm mouth and whispered, “I need you to keep a close eye on someone for me, dear.” Sarelia's tongue flicked out to lick along the curve of the girl's parted lips, tasting of her own sweet juices still lingering there. “A man.”
The girl shuddered once more in the elder spirit's grasp and her lips parted further, welcoming in the possessive plunge of Sarelia's tongue. “Who?”
“Daniel,” the elder spirit softly purred. They fell into each other once again, fingers busy against each other's bodies as they raced towards equally desperate climaxes. “Daniel Webb.”

Welcome ER Pierce

Fractured Moon is over 325 pages, (82,300) First book in the Steel Series

Genre: Paranormal Erotic Romantic Suspense {It had a little identity crisis, and doesn't fit into just one category :snickers:}

Blurb:

Aurelia Fridell will always be a freak. Born to werewolf parents, her twin brother Ville can shift forms, but she can't. Twenty-five years searching for answers yields nothing.

As her thirtieth birthday approaches, isolation creeps in, and worry settles in her gut. She accepted her existence long ago, and yet lately, she's felt off-kilter. Eyes follow her, prickling her senses. Her headaches are getting worse.

Is she paranoid, or is there really someone, or something, stalking her? Watching. Waiting. Drumming fingers to a sinister beat she can't hear.

Time will tell.

Ceithin Starkley isn't looking for a mate. Especially now. In fact, he doesn't believe in true-matings at all. While he is being recruited for a new job, a scent on the wind stuns him, and he finds himself fighting an inner battle he never wanted, yet can't ignore.

Sparks fly, as Ceithin and Aurelia fight fate and race against a clock neither knows is ticking.

Will he claim Aurelia before he loses her for good?

Warning: This book is sexy. Contains a drool-worthy Alpha male wearing Beta clothing. A sassy and sweet heroine with brains and brothers you'll adore. A best friend every girl would love to hate. I mean have, and an impossible road no one will see coming.

Excerpt:

Maneuvering my way amongst the hoard of sweaty people was easy; finding a man to dance with proved more difficult. I sashayed my way to the middle of the crowded floor and began to dance. The music pulsed with eroticism, and I moved to the sensuous beat. My skirt made it difficult to dance, so, on a tenuous note; I stopped, grabbed the hem and tore five inches off the bottom. I noticed I'd ripped slits up the side when I kicked that bitch in the head, but I shrugged. I'd be a Lady of the Night versus horny librarian, tonight. My garters played peek-a-boo with the crowd as I rolled my hips and soon, a crowd of men surrounded me.

Astrid sidled up on my right and we began to dance in earnest. I channeled all my rage and devastation into a sultry mix; I rotated my hips, dipped my trunk, and shook my tail feather. I had a good sweat going and my brain finally turned off. I didn't think. I was feeling. The hair on the back of my neck prickled, but I ignored it.

Ceithin could eat pond scum. Ok, so, I know I'm not being fair. I mean, really? What was he supposed to do, dump his longtime girlfriend like a bad habit just because he may have found his wolf mate? Would I have liked him nearly as much if he had?

Tough questions. Maybe someday I'll have the answers.

Maybe I'd find another mate. Who says there is only one per person? Who knows, weird shit happens. Ville and I are proof of that.

His eyes caressed me from across the room. Watching me move, the way my body twisted and turned to the cacophony of sounds and beats. So I turned towards the hallway entrance and there he leaned casually against the wall, looking hot and unattainable. God he was potent. The air around him reeked of danger. I stared back into his eyes, but he made no move to come to me.

I didn't dance for him. I danced for me. I was in a place where hurt couldn't roam free.

Turning my back on him, I beckoned to the blonde Adonis who danced near me, alone, with heat in his eyes. I gave him the 'come hither' eye fuck and held out my hand. He sauntered closer and placed his left hand on my hip, bringing me in tight against him, while putting his right hand on my left shoulder, pressing his pelvis in close. His slow grind left me breathless. He rotated his hips, and I followed him as the beat turned Latin, and the erotic dancing began.

I closed my eyes and gave into the intoxicating way the dance held me in its grip. It was a release of sorts, a way to beat back the anger and frustration traveling within my body. Turmoil needed escape, and so I gave it one. With every grind, every hip roll, every step, I relaxed. My body became pliant. This was what I needed. The blonde wound my hair around his fist and pulled my head back. His lips and tongue traced paths up my neck to my ear as we moved in time to the rhythm.

He released me, then spun me around so my ass cosseted his erection. My hips rotated in a simulation of sex filled sheets and endless nights. He had one arm locked around my waist and the other curved around my breast. I rested the back of my head on his delectable chest. I opened my eyes and locked gazes with Ceithin, who'd plastered himself against the wall, but raptly watched us on the floor. He stepped forward; hands clenched, eyes radiating menace, but caught him-self. He stopped and shuddered, retreating back to the safety of the wall.

Coward.

I shrugged. His loss. I stretched my arm up and snaked it around the Adonis's neck as he continued to fondle my breast lightly while nudging me with his growing erection. A pleasurable pinch made me gasp as he rolled my nipple between his thumb and forefinger. I shivered as my emotions turned into something darker. Need roared through me.

Bodies pressed closer as the crowd settled on the floor, and I lost sight of Astrid. I knew her well enough to know she'd be fine, but still, worry punched me in the gut. There were so many scents on the floor it was difficult to distinguish one from the other. Sweat, sex, and alcohol all cloyed for dominance.

As the song came to an end, I turned around to face my dance partner. It was time to go before I did something I'd regret later. I wanted to thank him for a fun time on the floor and leave on a high note. A fine sheen of sweat coated my body, and my eyes felt fever bright.

Welcome to Tara Lain!

Where to start?

Thank you so much to Amber for inviting me to the blog. One of the most important decisions a writer has to make is where to start the story. Start too soon and it gets boring waiting for important events. Start too late and you have to go back and explain too much in backstory. Like Goldilocks we have to find the spot that's juuuust right.

Usually, that spot is just before a huge life-changing event for the protagonist. In both my new books -- Spell Cat and Sinders and Ash-- the action begins just before the central point of view character meets the man who will rock his world. In Spell Cat, my hero, Killian Barth, is teaching a course on the history of witchcraft which is appropriate since he is a witch! But his students don’t know that, of course. Right after his lecture, he meets Dr. Blaine Genneau, a human professor of quantum physics and the two set off their own big bang.

In Sinders and Ash, my hero, Mark Sintorella, is cleaning fireplaces in the resort where he works while the whole resort is waiting anxiously for the arrival of Ashton Armitage, the son of the fifth richest man in America. Ash is looking for a wife to save his inheritance and every mother and stepmother in the US has brought her daughters to meet him. Of course, Ash blows Mark’s sox off. Which potential bride will win the crown?

Once you know where to start, there's the issue of the first line. Will it grab the reader? Maybe go down in history like "It was the best of times. It was the worst of times," or "Who is John Galt?" That might be too much to hope for in every book, but authors still try to grab their reader's attention in the first paragraph. I love to start with dialogue. I think it plunges the reader into action and connection with a character. It suggests that the book will be more about people than description.

Both of my new books have dramatic dialogue as a first line. In Spell Cat, Killian pronounces, “Witches burned at the stake!” And in Sinders and Ash? Mark tries to brush off soot as he complains, “Damn the ashes.” I never considered how those lines might go together! LOL. What is your favorite first line?

Excerpt: Spell Cat by Tara Lain; MM Paranormal Erotic Romance

Available from Loose Id and Amazon and ARe

When Killian Barth, history professor, meets Blaine Genneau, quantum physicist, they ignite their own big bang. But sadly, Killian walks away because he doesn’t do physics professors. In fact, he doesn’t do humans; Killian is the most powerful male witch in 10 generations and, though gay, he’s expected to save his declining race by reproducing. Sex with humans depletes his power – or so he’s been taught. Then why can young human, Jimmy Janx, dissolve spoons with a thought? Somebody’s a lying witch. With his powerful cat familiar, Aloysius, on his shoulder, Killian brings the lightning against deceit and greed to save Blaine from danger and prove love is the greatest power of them all.

He looked at the feline, whose head was curved around and practically tucked under his chin. “What the hell. Okay, Al, let’s go.” Since the cat wasn’t budging from around his neck, Killian got up, hugged his mother, and pulled on his jacket against the early spring chill, all with a fur necklace. He grabbed the carrier, heard a soft growl by his ear, and set it down. Okay… Cat three, Killian nothing. “Thank you, Mother. I’m sure I’ll find him very, uh, useful.”

Evangeline trailed him to the foyer of the house where a maid waited to open the door, looking slightly startled at his new accessory. He kissed his mother on the cheek. “So I guess I’ll see you Saturday.”

“No guessing about it, young witch. It will be a grand occasion. I’m already discussing details of the wedding with Nicholas Karonoff.”

He sighed. Better not to argue. Wrapping his jacket and fur cat a bit tighter around him, he stepped out into the early spring chill and headed for the car. His mother’s house -- his house actually -- sat on a grand street in New York. He preferred the bohemian flavor of the neighborhoods near the college, but still, all these trees coming into leaf, shimmering in the streetlights, made the place look like fairyland.

He glanced down at Al, whose head rested on the shoulder of his jacket. “Good thing I brought the car, cat, or you’d be demonstrating your flying skills on the back of my motorcycle.” He opened the door of the electric sports car and slid in. The cat didn’t slip an inch. “Don’t think this car is an indication of my lifestyle. I just happen to be a fool for the occasional technological toy. You’ll find the rest of my accoutrements pretty sparse.”

“Merwaow.”

Killian wasn’t sure what that meant, but he didn’t comment. “So, what do you eat? Shall I stop and get you some kitty kibbles?”

Hisss.

Oookay, that meaning was pretty clear. “I’ve got some canned salmon. Will that do?”

He swore the damned cat smiled.

Driving into SoHo, where his apartment was, even the hum of the little car couldn’t keep his mind from the sorry state of his life. The stupid cat purred in his ear. “Glad you’ve got something to purr about.” Powers that be, the whole universe was closing in. He wanted a life. Every cell ached to be loved. He yearned for someone like… No. He just wanted someone to love him. And he was signing away that chance on a marriage license. It would be great to be noble, but -- face it -- he wasn’t. He was no Witch Master. Why couldn’t he have been born human? What kind of prankster gods gave him more power than any other witch? He felt like the lead performer in a giant cosmic joke.

He pulled into the very expensive parking garage -- his other indulgence -- got out, and locked the car in its stall beside the motorcycle. He walked the block to the old brownstone, the top floor of which he called home. The mail was boring. Okay, cat, check out your new digs. He opened the apartment door.

Aloysius leaped off his shoulder, hit the floor with a soft thud, and began exploring. Make yourself at home. He closed the door. “I know. I told you, it’s not much.” Of course, it was perfectly decorated, though in flea market finds and amusing hand-me-downs from friends. So what? It interested him to see what he could do, living without any of the resources to which he had title. No one understood it. Maybe he didn’t either.

He walked into the small bedroom and took off his coat and shoes, stripped off the semigood clothes he’d worn to his mother’s, and pulled on a pair of drawstring sweatpants and a comfy sweater. The cat followed on his heels into the kitchen. “Okay, I know I promised.” Aloysius watched carefully as Killian opened a can of salmon and dumped it in a dish. He started to put the dish on the floor and got one paw crossed over the other and a patient stare. “Oh hell.” He set the dish on the counter. Al hopped up and dug in.

Killian sat on the little chair by the breakfast table. He’d remodeled this kitchen with his own hands, scrounging used subway tile and pieces of granite. He’d only used magic when he couldn’t lift an object or make two pieces fit. And he’d spent a bit extra on the appliances. “So what do you think?” The cat kept eating.

Killian leaned his head against the wall. “What am I going to do, Al? Everyone expects me to do this marriage. I guess it really could mean a lot to my people. My people… Well, you know what I mean. But gods, producing kids with a woman! I don’t swing that way.” He got up and walked down the short hall back into his bedroom. When he looked down, Al was right there.

Killian sat on the edge of the bed. “If you’re supposed to be my familiar, I guess you better know that your witch is a fag. And not a very good one. Can’t really do the job for witchery, but I’m no better at doing the job for myself.” He fell back on the blue bedcover, a bedcover that had hardly seen anyone on it but Killian since he’d gotten it. The cat jumped up and looked at him as if he understood. Okay, he was losing it. But he had to talk to somebody.

“I haven’t ever had a serious relationship. When I was young, my mother managed to scare off any boyfriends I could find, and she wouldn’t let me anywhere near human boys. I guess she was just protecting me, but still, no boyfriends for me. And now, I just get users who think I’m some kind of road to the top of witchery. I hate it so much.” Damn. His eyes blurred. “You’re going to think I’m some kind of witchy wuss.”

The cat walked over and licked his hand. The sandpaper surface tickled his thumb. That did it. When had he last felt even a tiny lick done with true affection? His mother loved him in her way, but she was a Master Witch and cared far more for power and scheming than she ever had for love. She couldn’t understand why he didn’t value the same things. She had carefully selected his father for his good breeding potential, and she’d sent him on his way as soon as she’d shown signs of being pregnant. She’d gotten just what she wanted. The most powerful witch in the world, or at least one of them. Well, no. He guessed she hadn’t wanted a flaming gay witch who would give his last spell to be held by a lover who truly cared for him.

Tears began to drip from his eyes. Hell, what’s the use? He might as well cry. A moan escaped him, and he rolled into a fetal ball. “Oh, Al, I’m so lonely. So very, very lonely.” He cried until he slept from exhaustion.

Aloysius stared at the lean body and the long dark gold hair. He slipped under the man’s arm so he could lie close to his chest and hear his heartbeat.

Tara Lain never met a beautiful boy she didn’t love – at least on paper. A writer of erotic romance, mostly ménage and male/male, Tara loves all her characters, but especially her handsome heroes. A lifelong writer of serious non-fiction, Tara only fell in love with EROM in 2009 and, through perseverance and lots of workshops, had the first novel she ever wrote published in January of 2011. Then she capped off the year by being voted Best Author of 2011 in the LRC Awards and had her Genetic Attraction Series named runner-up for Best Series of 2011! A very good year. After an exotic life of travel all over the world and work in television, education and advertising, Tara settled in Southern California with her soul-mate husband and opened her own small marketing business. She paints, collages, and started practicing yoga “way before it was fashionable”. Passionate about diversity, justice, inclusion and new ideas, she says on her tombstone it will read, “Yes”.
