Whet Your Appetite Wednesday - Body Shots

Body Shots is available from Ellora's Cave

Reed Walker leaned his massive frame against the wall. His leg bent, his boot-clad foot tapped against the wall to the rhythm of the bass drum. He stuffed his hands in his pockets, as his eyes gazed upon the singer crooning the soft rock ballad. She was gorgeous by every standard of the word. Long flowing black hair, dark mysterious eyes, her arms sleeved in tattoos. Dressed only in black leather pants and a matching leather bra, her rock-hard stomach revealed she worshiped the gym but Reed wasn’t here for the singer. She wasn’t his type any longer. Another time, another place maybe. Not tonight. Tonight, he was here for the owner of the bar.
Looking to make some extra cash doing something they loved, Reed and his fellow band mates decided to reunite after a ten year hiatus. Reed, having always been the businessman of the group, took on the task of going to different bars and clubs to see if they were interested in adding his band Foul Play to their lineup.
When he walked into Crimson Nights he thought he was walking into a dream. Never in his wildest imagination had he thought he’d come face to face with the only true love of his life—Sierra Allen.
The look on her face when he walked up to the bar and asked to speak to the owner was one of shock. Like seeing a ghost. And that’s how he felt. Oh, she’d cut off most of her long red hair but she couldn’t deny the scar on her right cheek. It had faded some over the years and she tried covering it with her hand most of the time they spoke but he knew it was her. She told him her name was Laura but Reed knew better. Those haunting green eyes couldn’t be mistaken.
He went along with her charade, though it killed him deep inside. She had run away from him after the car accident without so much as an explanation. The weeks he spent by her side, holding her while she cried over what she felt was a deformed face.
The painful recovery from the shards of glass that cut her, when the windshield shattered. He stood by her side, loving her, wishing he could take away her pain. Wishing it was him who suffered instead of her, only to have her up and vanish when she was released from the hospital.
Now she was pretending she didn’t know him. It didn’t make sense. He’d let her go a long time ago but this time he wasn’t going to leave without finding out why. It was the least she could do. She owed him an explanation.
She shocked him when she agreed to let his band play. He fully expected a flat-out “no”. Why would she want his band playing there if she was hiding her identity? Was it a ploy to make him believe she was this Laura she pretended to be? Or was she feeling the connection too? If it was to prove her charade, she was sadly mistaken. Reed wasn’t stupid enough to be fooled by a haircut or name change.
Reed would wait until the night was done and the bar empty before he confronted her but he would and when he did, Sierra had some explaining to do.
He scanned the crowd. The place was full of drunks. There was a table full of college-age guys looking like they had been served one too many. They were getting rowdy and Reed had a feeling before the night was through there’d be trouble. He eyed the group of young guys doing shots. They were hooting and hollering to the singer requesting she flash them some boobs.
Reed cringed. It wouldn’t be long. He cased the bar searching for any signs of a bodyguard. Nothing. What was Sierra thinking? She couldn’t possibly run a bar without the help of bouncers. What did she do when patrons got out of hand? She couldn’t wait around for the local police to come. Christ in this small town it could take forever.
He swigged the ice-cold Corona and reverted his attention back to the bar. She was laughing and carrying on with a group of women sitting at the bar. She looked happy. A small stab of pain filled him. In some ways he wished she wasn’t so happy. He wished after all these years she regretted walking away from him, disappearing without so much as a goodbye. But that didn’t seem the case. Just the opposite.
He did notice from their brief conversation that she wasn’t wearing a wedding band on her left hand. That was a promising sign. At least there wasn’t a husband for him to contend with. Because Reed was determined to get his answers and get this woman out of his every waking thought once and for all.

Catching Up

Yesterday I had lunch with a writer friend Eden Elgabri. It was a nice lunch. She’s such a great person. We talked writing and other things. It helped me realize I need to get out of the house more often. I wish I weren’t on limited activity.
I’m halfway through edits on All or Nothing. I sent back Love Revisited and those are final. I’m hoping to finish up Friday, give it a final read through and send it back to my editor.
In other news I had a print release on Monday. WET came out with my story Body Shots. I’m honored to be included in a book with such talent. My hats off to the other authors.

Body Shots by Amber Skyze
Got tequila? Sierra does, and Reed isn’t afraid to use it. He’s determined to do shots on every inch of her skin, but Sierra has insecurities preventing him from exploring intimate areas. Her insecurities won’t stop her from lavishing his body with the heady liquor though.

Ten years ago an accident tore Sierra Allen and Reed Walker apart. Now a chance encounter has them burning for each other. A bottle of liquor and a pool table has this duo ready to quench their thirsts with one night of body shots. But will one night be enough?

Shaken and Stirred by M.A. Ellis

Susanne is one final challenge away from winning a national beverage competition and reaching the pinnacle of her career—a management position with a very wealthy client. She’s intent that nothing will stand in her way. Not even the drop-dead-sexy cowboy who sidles up to her at the hotel bar.

Lucifer Treyton Ryder is under express orders from his uncle to find Susanne and do whatever it takes to have her disqualified. Trey plans to take her to bed and keep her there until the security team discovers them together. It’s against the rules. It’s a foolproof plan. Until the auburn-haired beauty shows more than a passing interest in a bit of yee-haw rope play.

Before Susanne realizes what he’s about, Trey has her hands expertly bound and she’s forced to make a choice—play it safe or allow the devilishly tempting man full rein for an evening of uninhibited loving? A “perfect” stranger and kinky sex? Susanne’s about to make a choice that could cost her everything.

Slow and Wet by Helen Hardt
Jillian loves her gorgeous bronc-busting boyfriend, Dale. She just hasn’t told him yet. After a satisfying romp, she walks naked into Dale’s kitchen, shocked to find another hot cowboy. Travis likes what he sees and is eager to take up where he and Dale left off four years earlier—as two men giving one woman the ultimate pleasure.

To please Dale—and herself—Jill agrees. Under the Wyoming summer sky, she yields to the desires of both men. They cover her in her favorite beverage, Dale’s homemade honey-lemonade, and lick every drop from her body. But will this erotic encounter with four strong hands, two delectable mouths and two determined men lead to what Jill ultimately wants—Dale’s love?

Set Me Up by Kat Alexis
Indigo Larsen can finally live her dreams of exploring the world. Her first stop is Ireland, where on a dare she accepts the Tongue of Truth liquor. The sex that follows is passionate and more exotic than anything she’s ever imagined. Waking up the next morning on Aedan Ciaran’s naked lap with his hard cock inside her is more than disconcerting. Convinced the liquor is the cause of her predicament, Indigo tries to leave.

What’s a leprechaun to do? Why, bring out all the luck he can find in hopes of loving his way into Indigo’s heart.

Sexpresso Night by Kelly Jamieson
After a disastrous D/s relationship nearly destroyed her, Danya swears she’ll never go back to that lifestyle. She tries to deny the dark hunger rising inside her, a craving to be pushed, taken to the edge, until the night she ends up at Karma Coffee for Sexpresso Night. She discovers how sensual and sexy coffee can be—and how sensual and sexy barista Carter Jarvis is.

Carter senses gorgeous Danya wants to let go of control with a man. When they end up back at his place “for coffee”, she submits to him so beautifully he knows she’s meant to be his. Carter seems perfect for her—not wishy-washy, but not a sadistic pervert. The true test comes the night he shows her his BDSM playroom

Jemimah's Genie by Ainsley Abbott

The promised toast Jemimah Murphy offered her deceased grandmother was one she’d never forget. As her great-great-grandmother’s homemade elderberry wine trickled down her throat, a poof and flash sent her reeling and the most delectable man she’d ever seen suddenly appeared. Brian, she discovered to her utter amazement and delight, was her personal genie.

Brian’s reason for existence was to pleasure Jemi and fulfill her deepest sexual desires. His fiery lovemaking introduced her to passionate, sensual experiences she’d never believed possible.

But the magical wine diminished each time Jemi summoned her lover, and both Brian and Jemi knew their perfect fantasy would inevitably have to end. Unless…

12 Days of Christmas - Day 4

Sometimes plans need to change. Yesterday I had a plan. I had a list. I knew the stores I wanted to shop in and the items I wanted to buy and then two things happened. My daughter woke up with the flu and the rain came. Under normal circumstances I could get my daughter set up for a few hours and leave. There were three other adults in the house too.
It was the rain that kept me home. Torrential downpours, winds whipping at 40-45 mph. It wasn’t worth going out. Besides, I didn’t want to wake up today, sick with the flu. So I stayed home. I finished decorating the house, put up lights on the railings. Our granddaughter loved the lights. She’s learning her colors and let’s just say red, green, yellow and blue are four words I’m tired of saying! LOL
Back to the daily grind and another work week.

Now on to the contest winner. Today was easier to choose a winner because everyone had the correct answer. So courtesy of random.org our winner is: Cindy Skaggs. Please send me an email to amberskyze @ aol.com so I can send you a copy of Heat Waves.

Today’s question and giveaway comes from my Ellora's Cave Dec '09 release Body Shots – What is the fake name Sierra gives Reed? It’s in the excerpt.

Body Shots - Reviewed

I'm thrilled to post this today. Body Shots seemed to slide under the radar with most review sites.
Sin from Two Lips reviewed it and let me tell you - she "got" it.

Here is a piece of what she had to say: Body Shots by Amber Skyze held my attention. I felt for the heroine after the accident that stole her life. I was happy to see Reed take care of her needs and give her back some sense of herself. Who would have thought body shots could be so sexy?

Tidbits

Okay, so I don’t have much going on today.

I DID write THE END on Spend The Night With Me, book two in the Freedom Fantasies series. I know I need to add one scene, before sending it off to my editor. Hoping by Friday the latest.

Play With Me, book three, will be submitted at the same time.

Still waiting to hear about Submit With Me. It’s a short-short 7k. It’s a role playing story like the others in my series.

I did receive a few good reviews over the weekend I’d like to share:

And the Winner Is...

Cindy Spencer Pape! Please contact me at: amberskyze at aol dot com to collect your prize!

Sorry I'm a day late posting the winner. Life has been crazy! My daughter got a job, so grandma is babysitting on top of working the day job. I'm cleaning up last minute things at work because I start my two week vacation tomorrow! YAY! Time to get caught up on reading, editing, shopping and all the Christmas stuff I've pushed aside.
Yesterday my younger daughter L and I baked cookies for the DH's Christmas party at work today. We may have eaten more than he took to work. Oh well. LOL
Having a house full again takes a lot of adjusting.
Today my son and I will go pick up the toy box for T and donate clothes to the Salvation Army. More baking is in order too. I swear one of these days I'll get out to buy something for the DH.
And I can't forget Survivor is on tonight. I'm looking forward to seeing what Russell will do.

Happy Thursday!

I'm on the Coming Soon Page

Yes! I finally made it to the coming soon page for Body Shots! I'm excited about this release. I enjoyed writing this book. The cover is nice too.

In other news, I may lose my writing space sooner than I thought. The guest bedroom is going to be turned into a nursery sometime after the holidays, but my son informed me needs to move out of his girlfriends house. He was afraid to tell me things weren't going well, because he didn't want to stress me out. I'd be more stressed knowing he was living with someone he didn't get along with or didn't want to be with just to keep me under stressed. I told him his bedroom (the guest room) is his to move in to and he can stay as long as it takes to decide what he wants to do next. So I suspect in the next day or two I'm going to need to find a new place to write.

Today I'm off from the day job and going to enjoy a day out with the DH.

In NaNo news - today's total is 2,002. Grand total - 15,997. I'm a little behind, but I'm certain I'll catch up. And even if I don't I'm thrilled at the progress I've make thus far. My current wip is just about done and turning out better than I hoped.

Happy Wednesday!

TGIF!

My book Body Shots will be available on Dec 15th at: http://www.jasminejade.com/ It's part of the Wet theme series. I've seen some of the other covers, but not mine yet. They're all the same, but have a different caveman in it. Have you seen the cavemen? Not that any would be a disappointment, but I'm hoping, no I'm praying I get Angelo! Check him out. He's the hottie in the middle, with the long brown hair and the sexy body. Wait they all have sexy bodies. I'd like to help him out of those clothes and...damn I guess I'll just have to add the next thoughts to one of my wips!

I'm still going strong with Nano. I woke up late this morning and thought I wouldn't meet my minimum, but I was wrong. I got in such a groove I lost track of time and was late waking my daughter up for school. Ooooppps! LOL She was a good sport about it.

Today - 2,021

Now I'm gonna have to find a way to sneak a nap in during the day.

Good News

I'm off bed rest! YAY! I'm so glad because I'll be able to attend my local chapters mini-conference this Saturday. It's an all day event with wonderful speakers including fellow EC author Ashlyn Chase.

I also received word from my EC editor that Ignited will be released on January 26th. Nice way to start off the new year. Body Shots is out on Dec 15th, so back to back releases are nice. Now if my other editor had a release date for Heat Waves that would be perfect. And if all goes well my short story will be in a Valentine's Day anthology from Noble Romance in Feb. But I digress and have gotten ahead of myself.

On this fourth day of Nano I've hit 6,147 words. Not too bad. A little short of the goal, but I'm determined to reach at least 50k by the end of the month. Until tomorrow - Happy Hump Day!

P.S. I have a cool contest for newsletter subscribers in light of my birthday month. You could win a free book and gift card. Why not join today. Subscribe on the right!

Shameless Self Promo Week

Today kicks off a week long look at my books currently available and maybe some wips too.

I'm blogging over at the Goddesses of Storytelling (actually self-promoting there too) today. So I'm starting off with Splashing Good Time, an Ellora's Cave release. This book was released in April 09 and is available at: http://www.jasminejade.com/ for less than $3

Look for Body Shots Dec 15th and Ignited, an Erotika coming soon from Ellora's Cave! :)

Blurb:
Reece Collins is growing tired of her Wednesday rituals of masturbating to the sight of the so called “pool boy” and her battery operated friend is leaving her unsatisfied. She craves a no-strings-attached torrid sexual encounter. Problem? The only one offering is ten years her junior.

Nathan Donovan ha s lusted over his client forever. When he happens upon her in a very compromising position, his desires swell, as he plunges head first into the deep end to save her. One brief encounter leaves him yearning for more, but when she splashes cold water on his plans, will he walk away or spank some sense into her?

Excerpt:
“You look hot!” she told her reflection. “Irresistibly hot?” Only time would tell. Strolling over to the window she dared a peak outside. He wasn’t here yet. Would he come? Certainly Steve sounded convincing enough. The fifty dollar bill she planted in his palm was enough encouragement to make an actor out of him. She stood by his side while he made the call. If she hadn’t known better, she would have believed him. She sent him on his way after the call. No need for him to stick around for the fireworks—hopefully of a sexual nature.
The undeniable sound of tires crunching on gravel alerted her Nathan was here. And from the hurried sound of the truck coming to a stop, he wasn’t pleased. Silently she prayed her idea wouldn’t backfire. Hurrying from the room s he descended the stairs, hoping to greet him at the pool.
“What the fuck!” she heard him scream.
Too late. She wasn’t quick enough. Nathan knew and he wasn’t happy. Reese slowly opened the door and walked casually over to the pool where Nathan stood looking at the water, obviously trying to figure out where the emergency was.
Whipping around he demanded, “What s going on here?”
Lost for words Reese stood frozen in her spot. She hadn’t expected such anger. Yes, she tricked him into coming over. Maybe having Steve tell him the pool had turned an ugly color green that he couldn’t get rid of was a bad idea but she believed he’d be happy to see her. Boy was she mistaken.
“I-I-I put Steve up to it,” she confessed. “I didn’t think you would see me any other way.”
“Maybe if you picked up the phone you would have found out.” The disgust in his voice was evident.
He was pissed at her. Her plan was slowly crumbling before her eyes. She couldn’t risk losing him a second time. He couldn’t walk away out of her life. She loved him. God help her she loved him more than any man she’d ever loved in her life.
“Would you have come if I had ?” she challenged.
Looking away he shrugged.
“Then I was right to do what I did. I needed to see you, Nathan. You’ve been avoiding me. I’ve missed you.”
She watched him looking at the water. Was he searching for answers? Maybe there was hope for them after all.
Closing the gap between them, she touched his hand. “Please Nathan, look at me.”
He did as she asked and immediately her heart sank. Pain, deep pain, filled his eyes. Gone was the sparkle she loved so much, replaced with pain that cut to the core. Pain caused by her foolishness.
Touching his face she whispered, “I’m sorry.”
“What’s done is done.” He tried pulling free but she refused to let him walk away.
“I never meant to hurt you.”
“I’m fine.”
“I wasn’t trying to compare you to Vince. It may have sounded that way at the time and I’m sorry. I love you for who you are, not because you’ve proven him wrong. It doesn’t matter to me what Vince thinks, or anyone else for that matter. The only thing that matters is what’s in here,” sh e said pointing to her heart. “And here.”She placed her hand over his heart.
She felt his heart beating rapidly through his tight black t-shirt. He covered her hand with his.
“Do you honestly believe you’ll be okay with what others think about us? Because as you’ve pointed out before I’m much younger than you.”
