BOOK SYNOPSIS
Cat Kincaid is obsessed with killing the man she believes is responsible for the torture and death of her sister, but when she eventually catches up with him, survival becomes a greater priority than revenge.

Kerry Marchant, haunted by memories, regret and self-blame, shields himself from the pain of the past by committing himself totally to the starship, Destiny, of which he is part owner. However, the beautiful, red haired woman who reminds him of his lost love, and who he suspects is working for a corrupt regime, represents a possible threat not only to the ship, but to his heart.

Marooned on an inhospitable planet, they need to work together to stay alive, fighting not only unknown assailants, but their growing attraction. But how can they learn to trust each other when he has vowed never to get close to a woman again, and she made a solemn pledge to destroy him?

EXCERPT (Unedited)
Before she could fire, Kerry let off another barrage of plasma bolts into the river, then leapt toward her and ripped the severed tentacle from her leg. It flapped around on the wet grass. She scrambled to her knees, still slightly winded and fired at the hideous thing. The foliage around it flared for a moment with an eerie green flame and the tentacle shrivelled into a slimy black mass, emitting a pungent odour and causing her to gag for a moment.
“It seems I was mistaken about the creature being dead.” Kerry prodded the smouldering mass with his boot and looked across over the water. “It is now.” He leaned down and grasped her wrist to haul her to her feet. “Are you hurt?”
“No, I don’t think so.” Her shoulder was sore and probably bruised but she’d live. She tried to control her shivering. The incident affected her more than she wanted to admit. Kerry’s proximity, naked to the waist, his lithe body shining from the water droplets that still clung to his skin, his legs swathed in tight black leather, did nothing to help. The last thing she wanted was for him to realise how scared she’d been when she thought a snake attacked her. “Thanks. That was close. It would have been a bit ironic if I’d been killed by the same creature I saved you from.”
She realized he still grasped her wrist. She tried to move away, but he pulled her back, obliging her to turn to him.
“You are trembling.”
“I’m fine.”
“No,” he said. “You’re not.” He pulled her closer and his eyes softened, his gaze holding her mesmerized. She opened her mouth to try to speak, but in the same instant he put his hand under her chin and his lips closed over hers.

Please Welcome Randi Alexander

New Release, Contest, and Book Giveaway!

Thank you, Amber, for interviewing me today. I love your questions! They really got me thinking about how much fun I have doing my job. I'm Randi Alexander and I write cowboy erotic romance. I'm published with The Wild Rose Press' Cowboy Kink line. My second Cowboy Kink, Her Cowboy Stud, was released March 23.

Where do you dream of traveling to and why?

Since I'm writing about cowboys, I would love to spend a month seeing Texas. I'd rent a convertible and start smack in the middle of the state and travel a spiral through as many little towns and big cities as I could find. I'd talk with the locals, the cowboys and cowgirls, get a real feel for the variety that is Texas.

Tell us about your current release.

Her Cowboy Stud started out as a short story that I gave away with my last blog tour. Readers liked it so much, but asked for a longer story, that I rewrote it and sent it in to my editor at The Wild Rose Press. She sent it back and said, "Add some BDSM and more adventurous love scenes and we'll put it in Cowboy Kink." So, I rewrote, making Trace a Dom, Macy a sub, and I gave her a naughty occupation that worked very well in a couple of the bedroom scenes. ;-) That's a little teaser…

When in the day/night do you write? How long per day?

I'm lucky to be a full-time writer. I usually get the family out the door on weekday mornings then spend some time on social networking. It can get addictive, chatting on Facebook and reading authors' blogs. So when the coffee pot in the kitchen beeps to tell me it's turning itself off, I know it's time for me to log off the internet and write. (Wow, that was quite a detour from the question, wasn't it?) I usually write from 10 AM to 3 PM. Sometimes I go longer, usually I find time on the weekend to write, too. My longest writing session was 16 hours straight. Lots of words that day!

What is the hardest part of writing your books?

Definitely coming up with a plot. I have friends with whom I love to sit and plot stories, and I do much better with the synergy of a group than I can ever do alone. I heard a speaker recently say that authors should throw out their first three plot ideas because they're probably too cliché and dull, and they should go for the fourth idea. I'm going to try that!

Where do you research for your books?

My research is so much fun! I have a friend who's an ex pro-bullrider, and I talk with him about story ideas, and I send him parts of my stories for authentication. I also chat with cowboys and cowgirls as often as I can just to hear their stories.

Do you have critique partners or beta readers?

I have a great critique partner who is e-published in erotic romance also, and a CP who is pre-published. She's very interested in traditional publishing – a big New York publishing house, mass-market paperbacks, etc. She's very close to making it, too. The two of them look at my books with very different eyes, which is amazingly helpful. I also have a wonderful beta reader who catches the smallest little things. I'm always astonished at how much I learn from her.

Do you hear from your readers?

I do hear from readers, and I truly enjoy it. If a reader ever thinks that an author is too busy, and doesn't want to hear from them, it's just the opposite. We LOVE to hear from readers. I enjoy chatting on Facebook, getting e-mails, responding to comments on my blog. I've even received gifts from readers, which I truly cherish, I've been invited to attend a rodeo in a reader's town this summer (and I'm going!) and one rancher is going to name one of her spring calves after me! Randi The Cow. I love it!

Do you use a pen name? If so, how did you come up with it?

I do use a pen name because my real name is rather dull and difficult to spell. I wanted to go with a quirky name like Brandy Alexander, but I didn't want to compete with the cocktail. A guy friend suggested Randi Alexander. He said it was like Brandy Alexander, but kinkier. That's how I introduce myself, now. (LOL)

What book are you reading now?

I always have three books going. On the Kindle app on my phone, I'm reading Hidden Talents by Emma Holly (fascinating book!) In paperback, I've just started In Good Hands, a Harlequin Blaze by Kathy Lyons (super sexy!) On my iPod, I'm listening to The Player's Club: Lincoln, another Harlequin Blaze by Cathy Yardley (I listen when I take my daily walk.)

Do you have any suggestions for beginning writers? If so, what are they?

I do. I mentor writers, and am working with three right now. A paranormal romance author whose first book was just published (Yeay!), my ex pro-bullrider friend who is fictionalizing the story of his rodeo days, and a romantic mystery writer who is just starting out. My suggestion is to find someone to mentor you, to walk you through everything from which how-to books to read, to making your book video trailer. Having someone to guide you is priceless. For romance writers, joining RWA (Romance Writers of America) and attending the local meeting is a fabulous resource for finding people to mentor you.

Thanks for letting me tell my life's story ;-) If you have any questions for me, please post a comment, and I'll be happy to answer them. I'm attaching my book's blurb and a romantic excerpt for you. And check below for today's giveaway and my big contest that I'd love for you to enter.

Trace McGonagall’s quiet life on his Houston stud ranch is shaken up when gorgeous Macy Veralta arrives to claim an inheritance left to her in his uncle’s will. Trace sees her as just another gold digger, but he also can’t resist her curvy body. When she hints at being the perfect submissive to his Dom, he has to have her.

Macy wouldn’t have been three months late to claim her inheritance if she’d known Trace was sin in jeans. The cowboy’s dominant bearing and the smoldering glint in his eyes send shivers to her toes and stirs images of being bound in his bed and disciplined at his hand. But could Trace’s perfect seduction be part of his plan to reclaim her inheritance?

EXCERPT: Over 18 only please.

Pulling Macy on top of him, Trace grinned. “You won the bet. Anything you want is yours. You just need to ask.” His heart gradually slowed to normal while his body tingled with a major afterglow.

She kissed his shoulder. “Anything?” Her voice purred.

He pulled a pillow under his head to look down at her, combed his fingers through her soft hair. He would give her anything. His house, his horse, his heart. “Name it.”

“Would you feed me?”

His brow lifted. “Are we talkin’ food here, or is this sexual?”

She laughed. “This time it’s food. All the sudden I’m starving.”

His stomach growled at the thought of whatever JaniceLynn left in the oven for them, which smelled pretty damn good when he was in the kitchen before. He bent to kiss her. “I’m your servant, ma’am.”

He picked up his briefs and made a quick run to the bathroom. When he emerged, she stood and he handed her his shirt.

She slid into it, smiling. Nothing in his closet had ever looked so good. No one had ever felt so good in his arms, or been as perfect in his bed. He still didn’t know what Macy was thinking. Was this his one night with her, or would there be more?

TGIF and Penny Watson's New Release

It's Friday! I'm excited because I don't have to work this weekend. On top of that the DH wants to make it a weekend celebration for my birthday (which is really Monday). Thing is he knows I tend to shy away from being in the spotlight. I don't like being center of attention or making a big deal out of my birthday. He is just the opposite. In fact he celebrates his birthday week and we even take one of our vacations that week. Even at 41 he's like a big kid, but that's what I love about him.

Today I want to get back to writing after having been sidetracked the last few days with, well....LIFE. lol
For those of you waiting I'm going to try to get my newsletter out today.

In other news, my friend Penny Watson has a new release today. Here's all the information you need to grab a copy!

Excerpt:

He never heard the end of the countdown. One minute he was leaning toward her, and the next he was lost in a tropical Eden. Sweet and lush, surrounded by warm breezes and the feel of sand beneath his bare feet. The scent of perfumed flowers filled the air, and he groaned as Kiana’s slender arms wound around his neck.

She let out a breathy sigh just before her lips touched his. So softly, so gently, he wasn’t sure if it was real. He brushed his mouth over hers and she opened for him, tasting of tea and honey and paradise.

Greedy for more, his hands slid under her baggy blouse, stroking the smooth skin of her back. He pressed her closer until he felt the pounding beat of her heart against his chest. Her fingers fluttered like a butterfly against the stubble on his cheek, finally resting there and tracing his jaw.

He deepened the kiss, pushing her back against the cushions of the sofa, devouring her mouth. Her leg hooked over his knee pushing the drab gray skirt up her thigh. A long expanse of soft skin rubbed against his trousers.

Without thinking, he moved a hand to her leg and dragged his palm along the bare skin. He could swear he heard the sound of the ocean, waves crashing and returning to sea. He moaned and Kiana gasped in delight. He was having difficulty breathing, so he pulled back, nipping her lip on the way.

The heat of a scorching sun bathed his body, and before his eyes finally snapped open, he heard the faint sound of a ukulele playing. Then, silence.

His eyes opened and he found himself sitting in the darkened corner of the living room, alone on the sofa. In his hands he held a pair of tortoiseshell glasses.

Kiana was gone.

Welcome Guest - Linda Kage

I'm excited to have Linda Kage here today, so please give her a warm welcome!

How did you start your writing career?
I started subbing stories to Harlequin/Silhouette when I was seventeen. I didn’t know I had to be at least eighteen to be published, but that didn’t matter because I didn’t sell anything. For ten years, I wrote and would occasionally send a manuscript off to a publisher every couple of years. Then I joined RWA, learned more about crafts and A LOT more about submitting stories. Within a year of joining, I sold my first young adult romance story to The Wild Rose Press in November of 2008. It released February 2010.

Who are your books published with?
I’m published with The Wild Rose Press, Champagne Books, Whispers Publishing, and Black Lyon Publishing under my contemporary romance name, Linda Kage (my first and middle name is Linda Kay, and my last name starts with a G, thus evolved the Linda Kage pseudonym). Under my erotic romance pen name, Miranda Stowe (I have no idea how I came up with that name), I’ve sold stories to Whispers Publishing, Cobblestone Press, and Liquid Silver Books.

Tell us about your current release.
Kiss it Better came out from Whispers Publishing in August. Seems like my 2011 Linda Kage releases are all tearjerkers. They deal more with emotional problems than having a bunch of action.

In Kiss it Better, the heroine, Sophia, realizes she has a bad habit of dating men with baggage, so she decides enough is enough. No more men, period. But then this guy at work—Reed—who had always seemed like the perfect man to her suddenly starts acting totally out of characters. She knows something is bugging him and though she’s always put him on this unapproachable to-good-to-be-true pedestal in her mind, she approaches him and once again finds herself sucked into trying to heal a man with too many problems to handle.

Tell us about your next release.
My next Linda Kage release, will have a little more action in it, thank goodness. The Right to Remain Mine will be out in February 2012 from Champagne Books. Instead of starring a tortured hero like Kiss it Better, this one actually has my first true alpha hero. He’s big, bold, brash and can be a total butthead (I think that’s all the b-words I can use to describe him. I was going to say beautiful, but he’s way more hunky hot than pretty!) The Right to Remain Mine a lot steamier and sexy than Kiss it Better.

It’s about a cop who always finds himself butting heads with the town’s lovely lady lawyer (sorry, I just can’t help the alliteration today!). They fight their brewing attraction with snide sarcasm until Willow (the heroine) is attacked by one of her clients. Raith (my hunky hero) ends up giving her self-defense training. But once the two get up, close, and sweaty, things really steam up!!

Has someone helped or mentored you in your writing career?
I’ve had so many people help me along the way, I don’t even know where to start…Okay, I’ll start at the beginning. School. In first grade, there was Mrs. Coltrane, who praised one of my poems. From that point on, I thought I could actually write. Then Mrs. Elrod, Mr. Cooper, Mrs. Tilley, Mr. Parsons, Dr. DeGrave are more teachers from junior high up into college who encouraged my fiction side. One of my sisters has read pretty much everything I’ve ever written. She helped me as much as possible before I joined a writers group. Then my first critique group consisted of some truly helpful friends like author Jackie Bannon and Claire Ashgrove. Tessa McDermid is a great mentor of mine as is Nan D. Arnold, Alfie Thompson, and Suzanne Arruda. And I should probably stop before I drag on too long. It already sounds like I’m making some kind of acceptance speech. To say the least, I’ve been blessed in the writing-help department.

What is the hardest part of writing your books?
I find I’m usually pretty skimpy on my setting details and trying to describe the scenery. But I still think the hardest part of writing is trying to come up with character reactions that aren’t totally out of their character and aren’t so stupid it’ll make reader’s mad while still trying to fit all that into an captivating plot that has plenty of conflicts to resolve.

Does your significant other read your stuff?
No, but he will occasionally let me read some of my steamy scenes to him. We won’t mention what happens after that.

Do you hear from your readers? What kinds of questions do they ask?
Mostly I hear from people who have read my young adult story. They want a sequel, and honestly, I have no idea what I’d write in a sequel for that story.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An author, a librarian, or an artist. Two came true, but I still can’t draw worth a crap.

Morning Person? Or Night Person?
I think I’m a middle-of-the-day person. Feels like I’m tired and grouchy in equal parts in both the morning and the evening.

BLURB:

A PAST TO PLAGUE HIM...

When his sister is attacked, memories of his miserable childhood assault Reed Walker and interfere with his perfectly structured life. To add to the chaos, just when dating becomes the last thing on Reed’s mind, Sophia Eschell, the very woman he’s been dreaming about for the past three years, noses her way into his life.

A WOMAN TO HEAL HIM...

After hooking up with too many troubled men, Sophia is determined to find a normal, average guy sans baggage. She turns her attention to Reed, only to discover he has more issues than anyone. But if he can learn to open up to her, can she honestly reject him or will she kiss it all better?

EXCERPT:

As she slipped into the filing room behind him, her gaze traveled up the back of his suit jacket. The man had a nice form. She’d compliment his tailor if she knew who was responsible for the way his jacket molded to his wide shoulders and tapered waistline. She had to appreciate everything about his looks. And as she did, she frowned.

Reed had always been an attractive man, but lately she’d felt an extra something when she looked at him. A jump in the stomach, a sudden catch in her breath. It felt like hope, as if she actually might stand a chance with him after all.

It better not be sympathy. Sophia refused to once again become one of those women who needed to nurture a wounded man. Never, ever again.

Oh God, could it be the Florence Nightingale syndrome acting up? Was weakness and neediness in a man always going to attract her? Was Myrna right, was she nothing but a magnet for troubled guys?

She shook her head. No, no. She’d just noticed Reed more lately because she wanted to help him, and in noticing, she’d realized how attainable he was after all.

Determined to ignore the blossoming attraction and just be a friend, she strolled forward. He didn’t notice her until she sidled next to him. Sophia crossed her arms over the top of the filing cabinet and rested her chin on top of her hands.

He frowned and looked up. When he saw it was her, his eyebrows rose. Sophia loved that instant when his gaze first met hers, the initial spark in his eyes when she watched him focus and recognize her. It set her nerve endings on fire. But he always ruined it, clouding the look over with distant courtesy.

Sophia watched his eyes clear of passion. She ignored the ball of disappointment and grinned mischievously.

“Rumor has it that one Mr. Reed Walker did not show up for work again yesterday. He called in sick. Now according to calculations, that is three times in one month. It’s a record, you know. I read it in the gossip column.”

He watched her for a second, then his eyes fell, and his attention dropped back to studying the files. “And here I thought all gossip was a lie.”

She examined the top of his head. It was obvious he didn’t have professional work done to it, except a quick trim, but his black locks always seemed to fall stylishly and frame his face perfectly.

“Of course,” she continued, “it’s also being said the reason you took off was because you had an interview with the Delta Advertising firm.”

Reed smiled. “Did I? Think they’ll hire me?”

Sophia’s eyes followed the sure, steady movement of his fingers as he thumbed through more folder tabs. “I definitely wouldn’t use Kendrick as a reference if you do try to go elsewhere.”

“Hmm,” was his only reply.

He paused, pulled up a file and flipped it open. Sophia watched him shuffle through a few pages. It couldn’t be work that bugged him. He didn’t seem concerned about his job at all. And there was no way he’d applied somewhere else. She was so busy thinking up more guesses to his problem that what she said next shocked even her.

“Do you want to have lunch with me?”

His head jerked up, the dossier in his hand instantly forgotten. She had to hold in a smug smile. Well that got his attention.

Then she sucked in her breath. What was she doing? She’d just asked the senior accountant to lunch.

“What?” His voice sounded winded.

Quickly, she tried to rationalize her rash behavior. If he asked why, she’d say she wanted more time to guess his problem. And that was the truth. Mostly. Maybe if she got him outside the office and into a less business-oriented area, he’d be more willing to let her help him as a friend.

She lifted her eyebrows. Keep it cool, Sophia. “Have you eaten already?”

He checked his watch as if that held the answer. “No.”

“Do you like the menu at Houston’s?”

He frowned. “I guess.”

She had to smile. He was so cute when he was flabbergasted. “So?”

He was going to say no. She knew the answer would be no. His mouth opened and his tongue touched the roof of his mouth in the form of a no. In the panic of being shot down, she took her hands off the file cabinet and prepared to retreat, when he stopped forming the dreaded no word and instead answered, “Okay.”

Interview with Cari Quinn

1)Tell us about your favorite character from your books.
Hmm, that’s a toughie. I’d have to say Kelly from Provoke Me. Her voice just flows from me and after all the days I struggle to write, I’m doubly grateful for the easy characters! We have some similarities—I’d like to think we’re both honest and generous, but she definitely wears her heart on her sleeve more than I do.

2)Tell us about your current release.
Gladly! Provoke Me just released in June. More than anything else, it’s a love story, though it take a while for the hero and heroine to acknowledge that! It's a journey of two people who ultimately realize they've found the piece that was missing inside them, even if the hole's a little jagged and the fit hurts. I absolutely love these characters - don't tell my other ones, but Kelly and Spencer are my favorites - and really hope readers enjoy their story too.
Provoke Me is book 2 in the Unveiled series, with four more books to go. Next up are Marcia and Tony...and maybe someone else, too!

Here’s the blurb:

Attracted

Kelly's focus is the bookstore she manages. Sex is relegated to a list of candidates on her PDA. Only one man pushes all her buttons―her boss.

Fascinated.

Spencer is determined to fight his desire for Kelly. For years they’ve bumped heads over the store they both love. But there's more than one reason their getting together is complicated.

Provoked.

When Kelly and Spencer unexpectedly meet up at a sex club, all the rules go out the window. Suddenly there’s only way this match of wills can end―naked, preferably all night long. In this battle for sexual supremacy, there are two winners—and two losers when their stubbornness leads to the very thing each dreads most.

Here’s the buy link at Ellora’s Cave:
http://www.jasminejade.com/p-9417-provoke-me.aspx

3) Tell us about your next release.

Next up is Bad Kitty from The Wild Rose Press, coming this fall. It’s a Halloween story (my favorite holiday) and features Nikki and Patrick, who’s a twin. I might write about his twin, Easton, next Halloween if there’s interest! And nope, there’s no twin action of *that* sort!

4) Who is your favorite author?
Nora Roberts. Without Nora, I’m not entirely sure I’d have turned to writing. To me, she’s the gold standard and hugely inspiring. Her talent is just monumental.

5) When was your first sale?
August, 2009. Eight contracts and many WIPs later, I’m about to hit my 2-year anniversary. Seems like yesterday!

6) Plotter or Pantser? Why?
Completely a pantser. I’ve tried to plot. I’ve done synops beforehand for proposals and thought I was ahead of the game…then ended up trashing the front and the end of the book. I always seem to have to redo beginnings and ends, no matter what. For some reason my sagging middles usually aren’t that saggy, thank goodness.

7) Do you use a pen name? If so, how did you come up with it?
Yes, I do. Cari is a shortened form of my real name (and a name people have called me since junior high) and Quinn is actually a short version of a childhood nickname. I needed names that meant something to me…and I knew I’d actually respond to Cari if someone called that name! Now in some ways Cari feels more “real” to me than my own name.

8) Do you listen to music while writing? If so what?
Yes, yes, yes! I love all kinds of music from hip hop to country to classical. Best of all, I like playing it loud. Something about music helps me think my way more clearly through a scene.

9) What book are you reading now?
Right now I’m about to start Karen Marie Moning’s Darkfever…I know, I’m way behind the 8-ball on this one! But yum, that Barrons…

10) Morning Person? Or Night Person?
Oh my gosh, I’m such a night person. I’d stay up all night and sleep all day if I could. Alas, I have a day job but I still stay up way later than I should. I think my pale skin has given me a touch of vampirism!

Visit me and check out my latest books at www.cariquinn.com.

Guest Blogger and Contest - Randi Alexander

New Release and Book Giveaway!

Thank you, Amber, for having me as your guest today.

Where do you dream of traveling to and why?
Since I've begun writing cowboy romances, I'd love to travel anywhere there are cowboys. I think Texas is the place to start. I'd begin in Amarillo and take my convertible on a big, meandering loop of the state's perimeter, then hit all the spots in the middle that seem interesting. I'd like to meet and chat with as many cowboys as possible, looking for ideas for my next book and immersing myself in Texas life.

When in the day/night do you write? How long per day?
I write all the time. Mostly days when my hubby is away at work, and some evenings after supper when he's occupied with television. I don't write much on weekends unless I'm behind, or it's raining, or I have an all-consuming scene in my head that I have to write.

Where do you research for your books?
I research online, mostly, but I have a number of writer-friends around the world, and I'm not shy about asking them things like, "So, when a cowgirl gets off a horse after a long ride, what are the first things she does?" My horse-lover friend said, "She finds a bathroom!" I laughed at her practial response because it's pretty rare that I read a romance novel where the heroine is racing for a restroom.

What does your family think of your writing career?
They're very supportive. They spread the word for me and help with research projects. The books are a little too spicy for most of them to read, but I do ask my macho hubby to check over my manuscripts to make sure the male voice is macho enough.

What do you think makes a good story?
For me, a good story involves fascinating characters who are flawed, but have a lot of integrity. They may do things that seem wrong, but they're doing them for the right reason. A good story has a lot of tension, sexual, mysterious, thrilling, etc., and keeps the reader engaged with a twisting, complicated plot.

What are your favorite TV shows?
One of the things I've given up in order to have more time writing is TV. And holy cow, was that difficult! The one television guilty pleasure I allow myself is watching Hawaii 5-0 on Monday nights with my hubby. The scenery is beautiful, and the stories are interesting. He and I play the plot-game, to see which of us can guess the ending first. Oh, one other show I watch but don't admit to anyone is Bravo's The Millionaire's Club. I allow myself one episode per week. I like it because it gives me insight into the dating scene, which I've been out of for a long, long time. It's helpful for my writing (and a lot of fun to watch!)

What is your favorite meal?
My lunch every weekday is fat-free whole-wheat tortillas wrapped around melty soy cheese, which I dip in salsa. I haven't gotten sick of it yet!

Do you have any suggestions for beginning writers? If so, what are they?
Take time to learn the craft. Go to your local library and check out as many books as you can on writing. Join a writing support group, like Romance Writers of America, and find a local chapter and a critique group. When I started writing, I had no idea what I was doing. The urge to write was strong, but my skills were not, and to become a marketable writer, you have to have both. And don't ever give up! One day you'll find the agent or editor who will LOVE your writing, and they will be your strongest advocate.

What hobbies do you actively pursue?
I'm a drummer. I'm not in a band right now, but I bang around on the kit a little every day. Good stress relief!

Tell us about your current release.
My first book, Chase and Seduction was released May 27 from The Wild Rose Press' Cowboy Kink line. Here's the book's blurb and a romantic excerpt.

Country music superstar/actor Chase Tanner has yet to be denied anything–and he’s never wanted anything or anyone more than gorgeous screenplay writer Reno Linden. So when the film they are working on is finally finished, Chase decides to turn up the volume on seducing Reno.
Reno Linden lived a quiet, rural life until she was thrust into the Hollywood scene when her book was adapted to film. Chase Tanner is larger than life, sinfully sexy and hell-bent on getting her into bed. Skittish after a failed wedding engagement, Reno risks the plunge into Chase’s arms, and is surprised that her good girl self can keep up with bad boy Chase.
Though Chase returns to his cowboy roots often, and Reno cherishes the time spent with him on his ranch, the two find their careers pulling them in different directions. Will their attraction survive the glitz and stress of fame?

EXCERPT: Over 18 only

Chase brushed his lips against her hair, and settled in. As exhaustion took him, he smiled. He couldn’t remember being this happy. Ever. But he had to know what she was feeling.

“Are you excited to go home, Reno?”

She hauled in a long breath and let it out slowly. “I wouldn’t say excited. Maybe anxious. I have so much to do once I get there.”

“Your book edits?”

“Yes, and I’m teaching a class in a few weeks. I haven’t prepared for that yet.”

The floral scent of her hair snuck into his nostrils. Another thing about her he’d never forget. “Is that what you want to be when you grow up? A teacher?”

She laughed and ran her hand over his ribs. “I do. I love to write, but I have a longing to share what I’ve learned with others. I get so excited reading young writers’ work, and it gives me great pleasure to be able to guide them. I’ve had some amazing mentors…and some not so great.”

She was talking about her ex-boyfriend. The one who tried to change her writing style. Make her into something she wasn’t so she’d fit into his life better. Asshole.

Her shoulder shrugged once, and she asked, “What about you, Chase. What do you want to be when you grow up?”

Staring into the dark, he couldn’t find the answer. He’d always wanted to go back to school. Not high school, but college. Take some classes and learn about things that people talked about. Politics and religion. Evolution, the planets, stuff under microscopes.

But he couldn’t tell Reno that. Hell, two years ago, he’d asked Jorjia to help him find a college, and she’d freaked out. She didn’t want the media to get a hold of the story. It would embarrass her if people knew she was dating someone so low class. That’s what she called him. Low class. She’d slapped him down hard, and the ache still lingered, flaring up every time he thought about going back to school.

He kissed Reno’s forehead. She’d never say something like that to him. But he sure as hell wasn’t going to remind her how uneducated he was.

“When I grow up, baby, I wanna be twice as sexy as I am now.”

She giggled a couple small laughs, then her breathing grew heavy and slow.

His last thought before he followed her into sleep, was that he’d never do anything to embarrass her the way he’d almost done to Jorjia.

Interview with Anh Leod/Heather Hiestand

Please join me in welcoming Anh Leod to my blog. She was kind enough to allow me to interview her and share her new release - Let me tell you folks. This is a must read!!!!!

When was your first sale?
I believe it was 2005, a story in the Murder Across the Map anthology.
Plotter or Pantser? Why?
I’m a plotter, with handy dandy spreadsheets and everything! I find myself able to wing it a little more with erotic romance than with more mainstream romance, because when you are writing fifty percent sex, it is usually very obvious what your next scene is going to be about! I became a plotter because I have a hard time finishing projects before I get stuck and find something else much more interesting. If I have a nice spreadsheet-y outline I know what I need to write next, even if I’m tired. I'm jealous I'm a panster.

Do you use a pen name? If so, how did you come up with it?
Anh Leod is a pen name, Heather Hiestand (my non-erotic romance name) is not. My middle name is Ann and I changed it to Anh because I thought it looked cool. Leod is a part of my great-grandmother’s name. She was a wild and crazy lady, who I figured would approve of my writing career.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I caught the writing bug at seven and never really wanted to be anything else. Other careers were always about the dayjob.

What do you do to unwind and relax?
I am a voracious reader and am excitedly waiting to enjoy my Christmas Kindle, which is already in my possession but I feel guilty about using until actual Christmas.

Do you have any suggestions for beginning writers? If so, what are they?
The best advice ever given to me was “Finish the book” which is very important advice until you make your first sale. Without finished product you are unlikely to sell. In my case, when I sold my first novel length book, I had an eighteen-hour turnaround after the editor asked me to send in my complete manuscript once she liked my partial, and the offer. If I hadn’t had that book done (Cards Never Lie by Heather Hiestand) I’d have missed my window of opportunity. That was my fourth completed manuscript, and I finished a fifth before it sold. Since then I’ve sold manuscript three (In Flight) and five (One Juror Down), so only two books I left in a drawer. Not too bad.
I absolutely regret not writing more in the eleven years it took me to sell. I’ve got some great excuses, but really, did I have to watch that many The Simpsons reruns? No. Few people have as little time to write as I do right now, but I’ve learned there is still time most days. You get a free pass with major medical problems and family emergencies, both of which have stopped me writing for months at a time, but other than that, you have to write!
Tell us about your family.
I’m married and have a one-year-old son. The child is currently my day job, and I write around his sleep schedule. For those of you who’ve been following my life, you’ll know he was a preemie, born almost four months early. His special needs and lively personality keep me hopping!

What would we find under your bed?
Nothing, or the baby would eat it!

Tell us about your favorite restaurant?
McDonald’s, because they offer under-three toys these days!

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
Thank you for buying my books! My email address is anh@anhleod.com if you ever want to comment on one of my stories.

Tell us about your current release.
My almost current release is Christmas a Go-Go, out December 21st at Ellora’s Cave. It is part of the Merry Kinkmas line, and is based on a true story. I’ll let you imagine which parts of the story really happened to me!
Here is the blurb:
Lexie has a serious love for go-go boots and an heiress-sized fortune to build her collection. She has everything but a man who shares her fetish. When her new custom-made Christmas go-go boots capture the eye of Adrian, she wonders if she has finally found the one.

Adrian has always been turned on by a woman wearing boots, and he is immediately smitten with the lovely Lexie. Sparks fly and he leads her away to the VIP dressing room for a sultry, sexy tryst.

They both want more, and Lexie plans to have it. She wants Adrian at home, in front of her boot wall—naked, touching her body, touching her boots—while they have the best sex of their lives.
Tell us about your next release.
My next release is going to be a Heather Hiestand story called “Victoriana Adventure” – the sequel to Victoriana, which is a Christmas story that came out in 2006 and is still available in the Holidays in the Heart anthology, either in paperback or on Kindle etc. The new story is a novella that will be out from The Wild Rose Press in 2011.
To celebrate the December 21st release of Christmas a Go-Go , as well as the releases of all the wonderful holiday guests at my blog, I'm throwing a contest! Comment on here, or visit me and my guests at http://blog.heatherhiestand.com, or email me at anh @ anhleod.com (remove spaces before sending). There will be two prizes for the winner. A story from the Anh Leod backlist (tell us which one you want) and a story from a guest blogger's backlist (tell us which one you want). See further details at my blog.

Suzanne Brandyn - Goddess Fish Virtual Blog Tour

Tell us about your current release.

‘Heat in the Outback,’ published by Eternal Press, is a contemporary romance, set on the edge of Outback Australia.

Sarah Munro returns home for her father’s funeral. She wants to settle his affairs and return to Sydney as quickly as possible. With a lifetime of regret behind her, she doesn’t want anyone to find out what she’d done in the past, it could open old wounds. It is a story of one woman’s journey who finally realizes what she’d been searching for in her life was right before her eyes. She wants to turn back the clock and grab hold of what she had lost. But will it be too late?

Who is your favorite author?

There are many great authors, I don’t have a favourite. Nora Roberts, Stephanie Myer, Rebecca James are just a few.

Does your significant other read your stuff?

Lol. I have trouble getting him to read a blurb. But no, he doesn’t. I write for women, not for men.

Plotter or Pantser? Why?

I’m a plotter basically. I find the major plot, and then draw up characters sheets. I then write a brief summary of what is to happen in each chapter, and add sub plots. It’s direction, and I love having direction otherwise I’d wander all over the place and my characters would never reach their happy ever after. If I don’t do this, I imagine the end would never be in sight.
How do you develop your plots and your characters? Do you use any set formula?
I don’t have a formula really. When I come up with something I feel could be a good main plot it develops from there. It’s the same with my characters. I see them in pictures, and then I draw up their profile.

What book are you reading now?

I’ve just finished reading Beautiful Malice, by Rebecca James, Dear John, by Nicholas Sparks, and I’m on the last pages of, The Barkcutters, by Nicole Alexander. I’m holding off reading the next Twilight novel, Eclipse, as I want to see the movie first.

What do you do to unwind and relax?

Swim, take a walk, read, watch a good movie, visit friends, and shop. Perhaps I should have put shop first. Lol.

Tell us about your favorite restaurant.

I don’t have just one favourite. I love visiting a place called, Blue Water Bar and Restaurant. It serves the most delectable food, and sometimes has live music. Also I go to a place called the Sandbar with water views. The ambience is relaxing, the food great, and the staff wonderful.

Tell us about your favorite fan letter you have received.

It made my day. She said she wanted to get on a small aircraft and force it to make an emergency landing just so she could be stranded on the island with the hero, Michael. She fell in love with him. It was a lovely letter.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Please come and say hi to me over at my blog, http://suzanne-brandyn.blogspot.com/ or let me know if you enjoy reading ‘Heat in the Outback’ http://www.suzannebrandyn.com/ I’d love to hear from you.

Thank you Amber.

Excerpt:

“Red alert, red alert! Hot babe soon to materialize on Main Street.”
Almost the entire town’s population of hot-blooded males received the text message on their mobile phones. They dashed for closer observation of the strange silver convertible crawling through town.
Jack was at the bowser. Pete strummed a spanner in his hand, as his mechanic Dylan peered over his shoulder. Dan from the bakery took an admiring glimpse through his window and Sam leant on the edge of the architrave of the local real estate agent. Many more enthusiasts partook of the pleasurable sight.
Summer sun reflected off honey blonde hair, swaying in the breeze of the open top convertible.
“Sure is a hot one. Where in the hell did she come from?” Pete said, his mouth easing into a grin.
“The text message was from Bill,” Dylan stated. “Guess he’s hallin’ hay to Tamworth. Sure has city written all over her.”
The convertible disappeared, leaving mouths gaping, and eyes widening with disbelief.
“What’s everyone so hell-bent about? Looks like you’re all in overload.”
“That’s right Ethan, you wouldn’t have got one.”
“Got one what?” Ethan came to a standstill and leant on the bowser.
“A text from Bill alerting us of the major babe attack.”
“Where, what?”
“Too late; she’s already gone. You know you should invest in a mobile phone. It’ll keep you up to date.”
“Waste of time, talkin’ and textin’. I like the good old-fashioned telephone, one anchored to a wall…was the woman alone?”
“Yeah, she looked like that Sarah Munro girl. You know the one that got engaged to that actor guy, the big time model on the television. She was all polished up like one of those gals on our calendars. You wouldn’t understand, Ethan.” He let out a roar. “She gave us a smile that had our hearts stoppin’, I can tell you that.”
Ethan understood all right, more than he was willing to admit.
