Monday, Monday

The weekend was quick, but fun. I spent a few hours with writer friends on Saturday. That’s always a good time. Spending time with other writer’s always refuels my creativity.

After the writer’s meeting hubby and I went out for a nice dinner and a movie. Of course we seen Ironman 3…we were disappointed for different reasons. Halfway through the movie I kept checking my phone to see how much time had passed and when it might end. I remember thinking how am I going to tell hubby I wasn’t thrilled with the movie, but didn’t need to worry because it was the first thing out of his mouth as we left the theater.

Now mind you I don’t have an issue telling hubby exactly how I feel, but I’ve been really negative about a ton of stuff and I’m trying to change that. I’m being less bitchy if you will. LOL

I will say for me the best part of the movie was the banter between Tony and the little boy.

Enough of that…I’m sure others have different opinions and I respect that. This one is mine!

I’m currently working on round two of edits. I had to change the motivations of the heroine so it’s taking longer than usual for me, but that’s fine because in the end I’m super excited about this new book.

The story is about grief, martial issues, and the suspicion of infidelity. The heroine has to overcome some strong issues, but it makes her stronger in the end.

We also spent the weekend interviewing Nanny’s. Our daughter, who was babysitting two days a week, is in a difficult situation at the moment. They’re out of an apartment due to foreclosure. The bank offered her and the owners a nice sum to get out immediately…needless to say the money will help them, so they moved out yesterday. Our little one will miss playing with the kids, but hopefully they’ll find a new place soon and not be living in limbo. Thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated.

So there you have it my life in a nutshell…

Writer Time

Every Saturday of a writer’s meeting I contemplate whether or not to go. In fact I must say I’m not going frequently because this morning the DH said, “You say that every month. Go you always have fun.” LOL
It doesn’t take a lot of effort to go. It’s a 30 min drive. It’s only once a month and I get to hang out with lots of great writers. So what’s the issue? I always feel guilty. The DH doesn’t take time out to do a “his” thing. His thing is always spending time with me. I love him dearly, but I wish he had “a thing”. You know, something to take him out of the house for a few hours – at least once a month. Instead he wants to go places and do things with me.
As I was considering not going today I realized – it’s the only sanity I have right now. The house is overrun with children – adult, teenaged, toddler and babies. If I don’t escape I’ll go insane. Besides I want to go to the retreat for some suggestions on a contemporary romance I’m going to pitch to an agent in April. These are the ladies who will help.
So I’ll get ready and head out and by the time I come home I’ll be so high on excitement I’ll be ready to get back to my WIP. :o)

A side note from my post yesterday. While I don't have any teams playing in the Super Bowl I forgot about the commericals. I LUV the commericals. I still crack up from the one a few years ago Rock Paper Ssissors. With my short term memory I can't remember if it was for Bud or Pepsi, but I can't help but laugh when the guy threw the rock and knocked the other guy out. Priceless.
So yes, I'll be watching looking for a new commerical to love.

Rock and Rolling!

Yesterday got away from me. I was lost in edits and didn’t come up for air much. When I finally finished close to five I figured I’d skip blogging. I’d missed most of the day already, anyway.
All or Nothing is off to my editor. This one is already contracted so I don’t have to bite my nails wondering if I’ll get a contract. I have to worry they’ll think it sucks! lol
Today I’ll be working on Chasing Forever. Once I finish editing that I’ll be getting things ready for taxes. Time to gather all the paperwork so that when it comes time we’re ready. There’s a lot to do. I always swear I’ll do it quarterly so that when January rolls around it isn’t so bad, but I never do. That’s where the procrastinator in me, comes in to play. Drives me nuts! And the DH. LOL
Snow is being predicted here in the Northeast. Go figure, right. Winter + Northeast = Lots of snow. I have four wheel drive and where I come from in Upstate New York, snowstorms are a fact of life. Twenty-six inches of snow fell one Christmas night and I had to drive to work the next day. At that time I didn’t have four wheel drive. I’m game for anything! Okay, maybe I’m a tad crazy too. As long as I don’t have to shovel it I’m great.
I’m hoping they don’t cancel my writer’s meeting. I need to get out of the house and be around other writers. I always come home refreshed and ready to go
Other than that I plan to finish my current wip by next Friday and have it off to my EC editor. I can’t believe it’s been almost six months since I submitted anything to her. I can’t let that much time go by! I guess if I’m stuck in the house it will give me more time for writing.

Rainy Monday

Another rainy day. We had a great weekend though. The temps were close to eighty and we ran, ran, ran. The dogs enjoyed quite a few trips to the park. They love running free. We have a huge yard, but the park is much larger. The best part is hardly anyone uses it. I’m sure as the weather improves that will change. It could be that the kids in the neighborhood are just too old to hang out there.
I attended my chapter meeting Saturday. Hillary Rettig was the guest speaker and she spoke about procrastination. That’s my middle name! LOL
She said procrastination isn’t just a fear of failure it’s a terror. I believe that’s true for most. Sometimes that’s the case with me…most of the time it’s just laziness.
She also talked about not beating ourselves up when external forces interfere with our plans. This was great advice. Life happens. Just deal with it and adjust the plans. I have a few friends who beat themselves up constantly – YOU know who you are!!!! ;)
Feeling good about myself I jumped on the treadmill today for thirty minutes. I’ve been saying I was going to do this for a few months. I finally did it! I just have to continue doing it. I watch the DH doing it 4-5 times a week, surely I can too.
Off to do some writing while the grand daughter is off visiting her father.

Just One of Those Days

Had a busy weekend, but a FUN one. Saturday was full with an all day mini-conference at my local chapter. Great speakers and lots of useful information. Saturday night the DH had a party for me. By the time everyone left I couldn't keep my eyes opened and I collapsed into bed.
Sunday, I took the day off from writing. While the DH had a house full of guys for the football game I went out and started shopping for the holidays. I got the grand daughter just about done and my god-daughter is finished. While that's only a small dent in my list, it felt good to accomplish something.

Today is all about doing nothing! Me on the couch with my work laptop. I managed to write 1500 words. I'm a few hundred short of my target for NaNo thus far. I'm sure I'll catch up later this week. The story I'm working on is flowing nicely and I should be able to wrap it up by Friday the latest. I'm really hoping to have most of the series completed by the end of Nano, if not all of it.

Aaahhhhh it's Saturday

It's been a long crazy week at work. I'm really starting to hate my job, but can't afford to leave it. Today I'm going to my local chapter's meeting. I missed last month because the dog was sick and had to go to the hospital. It will be nice to mingle with fellow authors. I haven't seen them since June. It's rainy here today, so maybe when I get home I can do some writing. I've missed writing. The meetings always inspire me to write more.

This week I have to start trying to pick up more freelance work. I'd like to get as much extra income coming in before the baby gets here.
