See You the F#ck Later 2013

I'm so ready for 2014~

This time last year I made a resolution to get my health in check for 2013. The positive is I did what it took to make my health better. I had all my routine check-ups and had a hysterectomy in March. The doctor thought it would cure some of my Anemia issues, but it didn’t.
In November I had an endoscopy and a few days later the doctor called me at 9pm to discuss some issues. I’m not sure about you, but if my doctor calls my house at 9pm he’s not calling with good news. My hubby said not to worry, it if were cancer he’d call me into the office to discuss it.
Well, okay – maybe. See the doctor is concerned there’s something going on with my ulcerative colitis. And yes, he used the word cancer. See when someone battles UC for longer than 8 years there’s a higher risk of cancer. I’ve been suffering for almost 14 years. My blood levels are off and I’m severely anemic.
This means my 2013 resolution will carry over to 2014, because I am determine to get my health in check. I refuse to allow the scare of cancer hold me back. I will beat it, if that’s the issue.
Lucky for me I’ve been working two jobs for the last few months so my mind has been distracted.
In a few weeks I’ll have my answers. In the meantime I’m eating better and getting my mind healthy. I’m ready for any battle. I’ve survived a 15 yr abusive relationship and a disease that can wear you down. I’m not going to go down without a fight!
I’m also getting back to my roots. Writing. I have to do what I love and that’s telling stories or helping others with my articles.
Do you make resolutions? Do you keep them?
Oh and I have to add – Happy 7th Anniversary to my husband. He’s my best friend and someone who shares my sick sense of humor. It’s amazing that after all the ups and downs we’ve suffered we can still make each other laugh.

Happy New Year! May 2014 be the best.

TGIF

It feels like I haven’t blogged in forever! I guess I haven’t with the blog hop and a few guests. It’s funny when I know I don’t have to blog I can think of a ton of things to blog about. When it comes time to actually write I forget those things. LOL I suppose I need to start writing down my ideas.
I’ve been busy writing and stressing over my friend Katalina Leon who is deep in edits for our co-authored book. I’m stressed because she’s buried and there’s nothing I can do. This was her baby. She knows it inside and out.  Big hugs to my friend.
I read an interview in Redbook the other day. The interview was with John Cusack. He talked about his love for music. He was asked if he could date and/or marry someone who didn’t enjoy his taste in music. He said NO. Most would be surprised with his answer, but I definitely wasn’t.
When I first started dating my husband we did talk about music – through email. He said he loved the 80s music and he was a big fan of Bon Jovi. Now when I think of 80s music, I think Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Whitesnake, just to name a few. I thought how cool that we shared the same taste. Years later I realize how different his taste is. He does love 80s, just not the hairband stuff. I wish I could give you an example, but seriously I didn’t listen to that stuff back then so I have no clue what their names are now.
Here’s the issue. We both have Satellite radio in our cars. He listens to 80s on 8 and I listen to Octane (hard rock) and Hairbands. We take his car more often than not because mine is a lease. I get stuff listening to his stuff. It drives me nuts.
So, would I have gotten in deep with him if I knew we really weren’t on the same page with music? I’m not sure. I’m not being mean, just being honest. I will say I’m glad I didn’t figure it out until I was in love with him. I’d be missing out on a wonderful life. :o)
I realized that I don’t allow my heroines to be in relationships unless the hero shares the same interests. Maybe I should switch that up a bit and give them some conflict and show they can co-exist.
Those are my thoughts for today. :o)
Happy Friday.

It was the best of times…it was the worst of times.

That’s how I feel about our weekend away. It was fabulous to see family and celebrate Christmas, New Year’s and a birthday – oh and my anniversary. ;)

The DH thought we’d upgrade our stay to a different Marriott hotel. We normally stay at a residence inn. I like them because you have a kitchen and a separate room so I can get up early, write and have coffee without bothering anyone.

This room was one large room. No free internet. No microwave and the coffee was awful. Luckily there was a Dunkin Donuts across the way. Now don’t think me a snob, but no microwave? Not even in the entire hotel.

The first baby bottle I warmed in a glass of hot water. I was trying to get the chill out for her because the formula was freezing. Oh we had to keep it on the ledge in below zero because there was no mini fridge or anything. Thankfully she only stayed with us one night and then spent the night with gram.

DH went in search of a microwave to get the bottle to room temp. Nope, none to be found. The manager said they don’t provide them anywhere in the hotel, but room service is available. Huh? Am I going to order a microwave to the room? It’d likely cost $100 and I could buy one for that price. Or did he mean I could order a baby bottle through room service. I’m still shaking my head trying to figure this one out.

Okay, off my soapbox. It’s a new year and I need to reassess my promotion process and writing. I want to write longer and sell more.

I’ve decided to take on a new pen name for my paranormals and of course my sweet contemporary I’ll publish under my real name. So look for new stuff this year that varies across the board.

It’s good to be back home. Today is my last day of vacation. :o(

Happy Monday!

Another Week

Today my dear friend Marie Rose blogged about how difficult it is to blog. Lately I feel her pain. I have a lot going on in my life, but most of it doesn’t relate to writing. In two months if I’ve written 3k words that’s a lot. But that has to change. More details on that Wednesday.
I write for 5 blogs. Some of them weekly, some monthly and I try to keep mine updated at least 3x a week. Let’s just say you run out of things to talk about.
The DH and I are finally close to getting what was the spare room emptied. It’s made us rethink a few of our other “hiding” places for stuff we swear we’ll use some day. This week we’ll me making a trip to the donation center. When you need space you begin to realize you don’t need to keep everything.
Only two days of work this week and then I’m on vacation for twelve days. Let’s just say I need this vacation. We aren’t going anywhere which is fine. Too much to do around here. I did insist on one beach day. Weather will play a big part in when we go.
Back to topics of blogging. What would you be interested in hearing about?

TGIF

These are my plans for today!
I'm toast. No writing, unless final edits arrive for Adrift.
I sent off the synopsis and first three chapter of my romantic comedy yesterday. I could edit more, but I don't feel like it.
If you're looking for a good laugh drop by Mia Watts blog. She's priceless! :)
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Missing In Action

To my friends and readers of my blog if you haven’t heard the news you’re probably wondering where I’ve been. Well sadly enough my husband and I recently suffered a loss and I’ve been grieving. I hope to return to my writing and blogging in the coming weeks.

Until then may your New Year be everything you hoped!

Off Kilter

My daughter and her family arrived in GA safely.
My son came home last night. It seems things just aren't working out with the gf. So I had to give up my writing space so he could sleep in his old room. I felt a little dejected this morning as I stood in the kitchen wondering where I'd write. Mind you it was four in the morning. As I looked at the kitchen table I knew I couldn't spend two hours sitting in a hard chair. I decided on the sunroom. I fired up the heaters, grabbed a cup of coffee and climbed into a recliner.
The words didn't flow as easily as they normally do. I was distracted by the outside noises. Finally I was able to block them out and found a rhythm. Alas, I reached my word count and then some.
In the process I had to write a blog for tomorrow because I'm headed out of town.
Today's the day we find out what we're having. Part of me doesn't want to know, but the realistic part of me knows I have to. You just can't buy neutral things like you could twenty years ago. Everything is either pink or blue.

Happy October

I can't believe it's October already. Where did September go? I know I didn't get much writing or blogging done, that's for sure. Instead I've been sleeping every chance I get and when I'm awake I'm walking around in a fog, wondering if my life was going to change. As of yesterday we found out that yes indeed things are going to change. I'm officially 3 months pregnant. My husband and I refused to get our hopes up because of our loss last year. Now we're breathing a sigh of relief. (Oh and it's only 1. They feared triplets from my levels!) Yes Mia, you were correct!

The doctor promised the fatigue should go away in a few weeks. Hopefully I'll get back to writing and producing. This lack of desire to do anything is driving me crazy.

I received the mock cover for Ignited. I'm really excited and can't wait to share it with everyone. Syneca did a fabulous job as always. I was surprised by receiving this cover already. I have two books done with editing in which I haven't received covers for yet. lol Go figure.

For those of you who follow my blog I'm going to try and get back in a routine. And no, I won't be filling my blog with pregnancy details, but I wanted my readers and friends to understand why I've been so distant lately!

And as far as my dog he is finally recovering nicely from his surgery. That was the most expensive pacifier I ever purchased! :)
