Not from drinking...from bad games. It's a sad day in the Skyze home today. Both hubby and I watched our football team lose.
I won't watch the Superbowl...not even for the commercials. I'm not a Peyton fan. He reminds me of the munchins from Wizard of Oz and I find him arrogant.
After the post game interview Seattle has turned my stomach too.
There you have it...I'm going to lick my wounds. LOL
Actually I have to work one of the jobs today and hoping to get back to the contemporary after a week off.

What A Weekend
I had to work last minute and spent over 13 hours on a
conference call. Have I said how much I dislike my job lately? It’s time to
start looking into new opportunities. I feel like I’ve been doing this way too
long and the long nights and weekends are taking a toll on me, my health and
family time. A nice 9-5 with no responsibilities…well, those I can leave at the
door when I go home. I don’t want to manage people or situations any longer.
Because I had a very productive week I decided I’d not do
anything writing related over the weekend and I didn’t. It was nice to sit on
the floor with the baby for an hour on Sunday and build towers and houses with
her. It made me realize I don’t get enough one on one time with her. She loved
every minute of it.
I missed half of my father in laws birthday party because of
work. I can’t get those things back.
Enough of that. It was an awesome football weekend in our
house. On Saturday the San Francisco 49ers won making me a very happy camper.
And I’ll give my hubby a shout out for his Patriots winning
last night. We had a house full of guests for the Pats game. It was a good time
and great food.
If the Pats/49ers meet in the Super Bowl hubby told me I
have to move out for the day. LOL we went to the game in December were the
49ers beat the Pats. Hubby still is having not living that one down. ;)
All his friends were like how can you be married to a 49ers
fan. Look I’ve been cheering for them since the 90s…I’m not changing for any
man.
This week’s agenda is a big one and I hope I can accomplish
all on my to-do list by Friday. I’m taking back my weekends.
Oh and I’m excited because my son is coming in tomorrow to
spend a week. He has a wedding to go to, but it’ll be nice to see him.

TGIF
Last night was open house at my daughter’s high school. Imagine my surprise when we arrived at her 7th period English class and when asked who our child was the teacher said, “Oh you’re the author.” I blushed and admitted I was.
Luckily my daughter is only aware of my writing credits such as Chicken Soup for the Soul and various magazines.
Mr. English teacher asked if I’d be willing to come in to the class later this year and talk to the kids. This man is VERY unaware of my public speaking phobia. LoL He also commented that he told my daughter that he’d have me come to a different class than hers so not to embarrass her. My precious child said, “I want her to come to my class. I love my mom.”
He laughed telling us and said, “Are you sure she’s a teenager?”
This is my daughter though. She tells it like it is and she doesn’t embarrass easy. She’s proud of me and her love for me – unlike her older sister at this age. I’m so happy at 14 she’s still a warm loving teenager.
Today I have to finish last minute stuff so I can return to my day job on Monday. Waaaahhhhhhh! Sorry, it’s just not something I’m looking forward to, though my company has been in the news way too often over the last three months so having a job is a blessing right now.

Busy Day
Another work day for me. I’ll have to work until 2am only to be up at 7am to work another full day tomorrow. UGH! I guess I need to be happy I have a job.
On top of working I’m throwing a birthday party for my daughter and granddaughter. My mom and son should arrive early afternoon for a weekend visit. I hope to squeeze some writing time in while decorating the house with Dora the Explorer and Spongebob (the 14 yr old wanted to feel like a kid too) LOL
Hope everyone enjoys their Saturday!

Craziness Magnified
My To-Do list is growing by leaps and bounds. I’ve been away from my desk since Sunday because the floors are being done in my office. Today they’re supposed to finish up and I can put my life back together. I’m thinking of taking Friday off so I can get things done.
On top of life being chaos yesterday they had ot disconnect my internet most of the day. The first time was for an hour while the electrician installed the wiring for my radiant heat. My office is extremely cold so we put in a 3x10 piece to keep my feet toasty. The second time was to do the actual flooring. I work from home. I need internet access. They said it would be an hour so I told my boss an hour. Four hours later I had to insist they hook me back up.
The only benefit I got from being offline was I opened the recently rejected wip and added another scene to it. Today I’ll finish going over the chapter and send it off to another publisher. Gotta climb back on that horse right?

Monday Fun
Congrats to all the Green Bay Packer fans on the Super Bowl win. The DH, youngest daughter and I watched the game. Well, said daughter crashed during halftime and I didn’t make it through the 4th quarter. It was funny I kept telling the DH to fast forward through the game so I could see the commercials. LOL
I enjoyed the Coke Cola with the Dragon, the Darth Vader and the Doritos one where the guy licks the other guy’s fingers. The halftime show was a big disappointment. I’m not a huge Black Eyed Peas fan, but they have a few good songs. You could barely here any of the band singing except Will I Am. No big deal for me. :o)
We did have some yummy food though. After pigging out I settled on the recliner and well…sleep took over.
I had an extremely busy weekend. I made it to the writer’s meeting, but got a call that I had to work. So I had to skip the retreat and head home. From 3-midnight I was stuck on a conference call. YUCK!
Sunday I went grocery shopping while the DH and youngest went to the Pet Show. They brought home lots of goodies for the dogs. L, got her picture taken with a rather large BOA wrapped around her. *shudder* I give her credit. I wouldn’t have done it.
Today it’s back to the daily grind. I learned a few things about doing my taxes this year. Last year my accountant set me up as a business. I thought I had all my paperwork in order and the way she’d want it, until I attended Saturday’s workshop. Today I’ll be fixing said paperwork.

New Work Week
It seems like forever since I blogged, when in reality it was only Friday. The weekend went by fast, but we did a lot. T, spent Friday night with us. We took her to dinner and that didn’t go well. She’s normally a well-behaved 18 month old child in restaurants, but we took her later than usually. It was nearing her bedtime and let’s just say when she’s tired she’s out of control. LOL she refused to sit in her highchair. She didn’t want to sit on grandma’s lap. She wanted to run, run, run.
I decided to take her to the lobby while the DH paid for dinner. Three women were waiting for their table so T walks over and flashes one of her brilliant smiles. They adore her so she offers her hand for a high five! Now she has their attention. All three women graciously amuse her and high five her back. Then she spots a little boy sitting on his mom’s lap. Well, let’s just say, she wanted him to hang with her. She walked right up to his face and waved. Then she motioned him to come on…the father said, hey bud, I think you’ve gotten your first dinner invitation.
The rest of the weekend went by in a blur. My son spent the day yesterday doing laundry. No washer or dryer at the new place. I was thrilled because my mom gave me an IPod for my birthday. Thankfully my son and I listen to the same hard rock music. I filled my IPod with lots of music for when I’m on the treadmill. I’ve wanted an IPod for a long time, but it’s one of those things that I just wouldn’t spend the money on. I’m weird when it comes to toys. I’ll buy them for everyone else, except myself.
This week is a short work week. Only three days. YAY.
I managed to get in 1k today – YAY again.
Monday is looking up.

Craziness Magnified
So life is just insane. Yesterday I celebrated the release of Submit With Me, correction, I wanted to celebrate. My only wish was to spend the day promoting this little quickie on all the various loops, only I received edits for Play With Me. Now I’m not complaining because edits means a release date in the near future and with Spend The Night With Me releasing Sept 15th, I’d love for this book to follow shortly thereafter.
Play With Me is the final book in the Freedom Fantasies series. I happened to write this book first so needless to say there are a few edits to be made and loose ends to clean up. It’s more edits than I’ve seen in awhile and for some reason my brain freezes up when I have to make larger changes. I wish I knew why so I could remedy it, but I don’t.
Speaking of the series, Tuesday I received the cover art for Spend The Night With Me. I’m jumping up and down because Syneca nailed it. With Pretend With Me I asked for a manor or mansion on the cover because that’s where all the stories take place. I didn’t get what I asked for, but the cover was still yum worthy. What can I say Syneca is awesome. This time I received my vision. I want to share it with you, but have to wait that darn three days. Tomorrow I’ll happily showcase it! :o)
In other news, if my life couldn’t get any crazier, I received final edits for Adrift this morning. Now I’m working on two sets of edits. It’s a good thing I work from home. I don’t know how people work a full time job outside the home and publish. Personally I’m not sure I could handle it.
I did get a release date for Adrift – November 9th. I’m excited, but not rushing this release. November means winter and as most of you know Amber doesn’t like winter. LOL
I can’t wait to see what the cover artists come up with for Adrift.

Clone Me
The first few days after vacation are always crazy for me. Add to the fact that I received edits for Spend the Night With Me, Cover Art request for Play With Me and other paperwork I’m going insane. I wish I could afford to quit the day job, but seriously, writing will NOT pay the bills.
The funny thing is I’m just about putting in full time hours with writing. I feel like I never sleep anymore. It feels like I’m always missing something. Promo takes up more time than the actual writing. Add in supporting fellow authors, because I HAVE to do that.
I’m not whining seriously. I’m thrilled that I’ve reached this point in my writing career. I’m in the process of building a website too. Geez, I definitely don’t know what I’m doing. But I know it’s a necessity.
I have to work all weekend at the day job. The DH’s family is having a huge family reunion picnic on Sunday. I need to be cloned.
Happy Hump Day Everyone!

Working!
I’ve been officially back to work for fifteen minutes and I’m swamped! LOL I’ll admit I logged into email at least once a week while out so I could keep up on things and not be overwhelmed today. HA! Too much to do. A lot of changes took place while I was gone. New software needs to be installed, employee eligibility forms need to be filled out AGAIN…the list is never-ending.
Luckily I managed to get 1200 words in this morning. I need to start my Cougar Challenge book soon. The second wave of authors are steadily submitting their stories. It will be our time before I know it. I just need to finish this one book. I also want to submit a naughty nooner to my editor. It’s done, just needs a little something in one part.
The DH leaves this morning for a business trip. I wish I could go, but truthfully I hate to fly and he’ll be on a plane for five hours. I guess I’ll pass…this time.
I suppose it’s time to get back to work. Happy Hump Day everyone!

I’m still celebrating Valentine’s Day with the DH. He’s off today, so we’re going shopping and having dinner out again. We had a wonderful weekend in NY. It was nice to wake up in a hotel, with no dogs, no kids and peace and quiet. Visiting with my family was fun too. One of my cousins just moved back home so seeing him after three years was really nice.
We got back into town in time for the early dinner reservations he made. Dinner was delicious and the restaurant owner gave out a single rose to all the women. I thought that was nice personal touch. The restaurant is a family owned Italian place. The food is to die for.
I’m thinking of going back to NY tomorrow for a few days to see friends I didn’t get a chance to see and visit more with my family. I return to work next week. I can’t believe I’ve been out for almost 10 weeks (I was on vacation for the first two weeks). I go to the doctor’s today and I’m sure they’re going to release me. It’s not like my job is strenuous. It is stressful and does require me to spend many hours in front of the computer, but I do that anyway! LOL
Off to see the doctor. Happy Monday everyone!

Entertaining the Family
My mom and aunt came in from NY for the night yesterday. They're in route to Cape Cod for a week long vacation. Our house was total chaos yesterday. Between them, the kids and grand kid I couldn't hear myself think. Well, they're off and hopefully the weather will be perfect for them. Next Sunday they'll be back on their way home. My youngest came home from being with her father for most of the summer. School starts next Wednesday -junior high. L is not a morning person. School starts at 7:55am. This should be interesting.
Me, I woke up with an ear ache, pain in my neck and jaw. Not sure if I was clenching my teeth in my sleep or if something is going on. I'll wait until tomorrow before calling the doctor. On another note tomorrow we find out if our lives are going to change and if so how much. I could be worrying for nothing. I could be just fine. But either way I'll know tomorrow.
Needless to say, no writing was accomplished for me this weekend or today. There's always tomorrow. Right?
